Smt. T.R. Kanakammal, quotes here Talks No. 121, as revlevant
to the verse.

Two Moslems asked Bhagavan:

D: Does God have a form?

B:  Who says so?

D: Well, if God has no form is it proper to worship idols?

B:  Leave God alone.  He is unknown.  What about you?  Do
you have a form?

D: Yes. I am this and so and so.

B: So then, you are a man with limbs about three and a half
cubits high, with beard etc., Is it so?

D: Certainly.

B:  Then do you find yourself in deep sleep?

D: After waking I perceive that I was asleep.  Therefore, by
inference, I remained thus in deep sleep also.

B: If you are the body, why do they bury the corpse after death?
The body must refuse to be buried!

D: No!  I am subtle Jiva within the gross body.

B:  So, you see you are really formless.  But you are at present
identifying yourself with the body.  So long as you are formful,
why should you not worship the formless God as being formful?

The questioner was baffled and perplexed.....

Sri Lakshmana Sarma sings in his Sri Ramana Paravidyopanishad:

Verse 105:  Every creature first identifies his own Self with the
body, and thereby concludes that the body is real.  Then he comes
to believe that all forms that are seen are also real.

Whatever is seen is a form.  The initial question is therefore whether
the forms are real.  Every seer comes to the conclusion that all
forms are real. But the first step in the process of coming to this
conclusion is a mistaken impression, that the body is the Self.  Philosophy begins with the knowledge that the body is not the Self.
And that really the Self is formless, so that whatever is seen is for that very reason not the Self.  The Self being indubitably real, that
reality is ascribed to the body.  So a part of the world is mistakenly
concluded to be real.  This mistake vitiates the whole process, by
which the world is accepted as real.   

Verse 106: Therefore all forms are unreal.  To the Sage they are not
real.  What really exists is formless.  In right Awareness, nothing
has form. 

Verse 107:  By a single act of vision, the ignorant man sees both
himself and the world as forms.  Since this seeing is illusory, there is no evidence to prove the world is real.

Verse 108:  One's own body and the world are one indivisible
spectacle. Either they are both seen together, or they are both
not seen.  Does anyone see this world without at the same time seeing the body, which is the form ascribed to the Self?

Verse 109:  If it be said, that we see the dream world without bodies, the answer is that that there is a body for the soul in all
three states.  The soul is never bodiless.
