How does a Jnani work without thoughts?
« on: March 05, 2010, 11:09:07 AM »
This has been discussed in detail in the Forum.  How did Sankara and Ramana
compose works when there were no thoughts?

Bhagavan Ramana has answered this in His reply to one Andhra gentleman
on 19th December 1946,  (Source:  Devaraja Mudaliar)

"Have the Brahmavid, Brahmavidvara, Brahmavidvareeya and Brahmavidvarishta
and others all got a sattvic mind?" someone else asked.

Bhagavan said :  It is all the same, whether you say Brahmavid .... etc.,  "Like
Brahman means Brahman Itself.  We shall have to say that the above three have
got sattivic minds in common parlance, but the fact is that there is no mind for them.
Vasanas themselves are the mind.  If there are no vasanas, there is no mind. That
which IS is Brahman.  That is self luminous.  That is Atman and that is Self.  Names
like Brahmavid... etc., are given to those who have found the Truth through self enquiry
and remain firmly in the Knowledge of the Self.  THE DAY TO DAY ACTIONS ARE SAID
TO BE IN ATMAKARAVRITTI or AKHANDAKARA VRITTI.,

Arunachala Siva.

Dear srkudai,

Your SRK simile is also correct.  Bhagavan Himself has said that the ego of a
Jnani is like a burnt rope.  It has only form, but no use for himself.]
