Glimpses
« on: January 19, 2010, 06:57:50 PM »
Dear I,

Just keep waiting for the next thought to pass by. Keep watching it, watch it pass by, you will come to a point when you will be consciousness of yourself, when you will be waiting for the next thought to come. Then enquire or see who you are!

You will see that the one seeing these thoughts pass by itself as a thought that comes and goes, one by one.

This is actually beyond words, see for yourselves

Dear I,

This is only "Glimpse",

Glimpse remain so long there is one to watch these.

The one that says that

1. It comes and goes
2. It does not come
3. The one waiting for the next to come

is the one to be enquired about. Who is the one who is watching all these? Who is the 'I' and infact, Yes, the one that sees the thoughts "comes" and "goes" is just thoughts itself. moments of blankness is something like the deep Sleep - Sushupti. Coming and going is just the Jagrat and Swapna.

The Glimpse that Devaraja Mudaliar and Marie Suzanne spoke
of, is not thought.  It is a mind-stopping flash, brilliant like a
thousand Suns, during which the body appeared to melt like ice.

Dear I,

'I' beg to differ, because, the glimpses of Devaraja Mudaliar and Marie Suzanne is still just a glimpse because it is as good as the state of Sushupti, and then they came back to Jagrat.

On several instances, Bhagawan had asked several devotees to not stop with these experiences/glimpses, but to persist in enquiring who is the one who is having these experiences/glimpses.

To whom did it appear

Dear Nagaraj,

I believe that the glimpses of the Self, cannot be compared to
Sushupti.  Because, in Sushupti, one knows nothing.  Here, one
knows that he is full of bliss, albeit temporarily.

Second thing, the state of Sushupti, deep sleep, is known only
when a person wakes up.  He says:  I had a good sleep.  Here
the state of bliss is known "real time," there and then.

Dear I,

The Glimpse of Self is Grace and Grace leads to (liberation)

Your point:
Quote
Because, in Sushupti, one knows nothing.  Here, one
knows that he is full of bliss, albeit temporarily.

Who is the one who knows nothing? - Is it not the one who is there in Jagrat and Swapna? The one that knows that he is full bliss, is just the Mind. This is grace, there is no complete ManoNasam. Because the is someone owning this experience, he has to be enquired.

Your second point:
Quote
the state of Sushupti, deep sleep, is known only
when a person wakes up.  He says:  I had a good sleep.  Here
the state of bliss is known "real time," there and then.

The person who says in waking state that he had a good sleep, where was this person in deep sleep?

Hence, the person in waking and swapna state is just the Mind - 'I' where was this, during sleep? why did it not have a need to say that it is in bliss during sushupti? who is the one who says that He had good sleep? it is just the Mind in waking sleep.

Does the Self have any need to assert, affirm its state of blissfulness? it is just the glimpse/experience that makes the mind think.

Glimpse of Self though is definitely not to be compared to deep sleep, what I say is that it is Grace, but, still it is not (Turiya) as Bhagawan puts it.

This Glimpse is not (Turiya) is what I am trying to convey. It is Grace

Devaraja Mudaliar asks Bhagavan Ramana (during those 15 minutes
of glimpse):  "Is it That?"  Bhagavan Ramana says:  "Oye, That is
it!"  The question was not asked after the 'event'.  It was asked
by the Pure Mind, which is like crystal.  Bhagavan Ramana, the
Self that It is the Self.  "You are That"
