Tiruppavai - 12
« on: December 27, 2009, 10:23:24 AM »
The 12th song of Tiruppavai of AndaL is sung today, the 27th
December 2009, 12th day of Margazhi (Dhanur) month.

Here there is a reference to the Gokulam and also about Sri
Rama Avatara.

In the Gopas' (cowherds) homes, many she-oxen constantly make
sound "mey...mey" thinking about their calves (which have gone to
the grassfields for grazing) and there is flow of milk from their
breasts and the voluminous milk makes the mudfloors marshy!
O sister of one such rich flourishing Gopa!  With honeydew falling
on our heads, in this early morning, we are at your doorstep singing
the glory of Sri Rama who vanquished Ravana.  Why are you still
silent without coming to the door?  All the girls from neighbouring
homes have already arrived.  Please wake up now.  What is this
deep unending sleep?

The girl sleeping still represents tamas.  The girls who are already
at her doorsteps represent sattva.  The girl who complains about
the lazy girl (the singer) represents rajas.

Arunachala Siva.
