The Light from the Hill of Fire.
« on: December 02, 2009, 05:59:33 PM »
Last evening, I could see the Light from the Hill of Fire, in webcam
at 6.03 PM IST. It is the Light which Brahma and Vishnu were
trying to size up.  What else to say?  Silence, silence......

You should have directly seen the light with the naked eyes.
O Divine, lead me to dizzy heights of sublimity & loftiness

I saw this on the webcam Tuesday and wondered what was, it was -- a fire or a play of the setting sunlight, if I had known what it was I would have saved the snapshot.

Turns out that what is referred to here is what with a certain understatement might be called the crowning event of a high holy day in which a "bonfire" is lit on top of Ramana's beloved Green Mountain -- Arnunachala

Dear soham3,

I had seen the Light with my naked eyes in December 2008.
This time, Bhagavan Ramana willed it otherwise.  The Light
within me, is seen intermittantly and I only wish Bhagavan
Ramana to make it faster so that the Light abides within me
permanently.

Dear Chuck Cliff,

The date is already known to you, I trust.  You must have
waited for it as per your local time.  Sometimes it happens,
what to do?  Wait for the year 2010.  Or, if you can make
it to Tiruvannamalai, say before 8th December 2009, you
wiill have a chance.  Anyway, leave it to Bhagavan Ramana.

LOL Subramaniam,  I saw the light -- at least if what you both are talking about is the lighting of the fires on the top of the Holy Hill.  I've downloaded pictures of this around 1800 hrs. for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th December.  How long do they keep lighting the fires? Or is the flame kept burning for -- a week?

Or, are you talking about something else I haven't understood properly?

Dear Chuck Cliff,

The Light I mentioned is the Light on the Hill.  It is burnt with tons
of pure ghee and a ropelike wick.  It burns for about 7 to 10 days.
I also saw the Light through webcam.  To see it directly one has
to be in Tiruvannamalai during these days.  I saw it in Dec. 2008.
It is said to be visible upto 8 kms, around the Hill.
