The Seeds shall not sprout
« on: November 15, 2009, 10:46:27 AM »
In Palakottu, through which Bhagavan Ramana used to stroll for
a while everyday, it was quite hot during summer.  There were
no trees.  The devotees had made out some pits, and they wanted
to plant the seeds for growing trees.  On the appointed day, the
seeds were taken on a plate, and the devotees requested Bhagavan
Ramana to pick up a seed and plant it first.  Bhagavan Ramana
smiled at them and was about to pick a seed.  Radhakrishnan,
cousin of T.R. Kanakkamal, rushed from behind and told Bhagavan:
"Bhagavan!  Do not touch the seeds.  If you touch, they will not
sprout!"  Bhagavan Ramana thought for a while, and then with a
smile, refrained from touching the seeds.  The devotees grew angry
and looked at Radhakrishnan.  He then said:  "Once Kunju Swami
and I wanted to plant onions in the garden behind the kitchen.
Bhagavan Ramana touched some of those onion seeds, before planting.   The seeds touched by Him never germinated at all.
Will not these seeds obtain liberation immediately?  How can
they germinate and grow as plants?

The devotees who heard Radhakrishnan were thrilled and did not
press Bhagavan further.  Bhagavan Ramana looked at intently
and then moved away with a smile.

Why only plants?  Even the few months old children, obtained liberation, on Bhagavan Ramana's golden touch.  It happened to Mahalakshmi Amma's two young children.  Bhagavan Ramana fed milk from a spoon to one and applied Vibhuti to another.  Both died within a few months and abided in God's feet!

Ouch! That's rather strong milk for anybody just getting acquainted with Ramana.

His touch could also go the other way, as with the young Ram who, bitten by a venomous snake was already turning blue when Ramana touched him and shouted something and the boy was okay. There was also a case with Mrs. Taleyarkhan and a healing.  Ramana was very definite about ones destiny in the greater scheme of things and this should be remembered in context with these things.

In this case, would the seeds have sprouted? Perhaps, perhaps not -- it would have depended, I suppose on the  "destiny" :P of the seeds.
There's a glory in the morning because the earth turns 'round, and a promise in the evening, when the sun goes down.

Dear Chuck Cliff,

Yes. It all depends on one's carry bag of garbages and chocolates.
The young boy Ramanan was brought alive with Bhagavan Ramana's
touch.  The two young ones of Mahalakshmi Amma, died in liberation.  The young girl (G.V.Subbaramaiah's daugter) Indra
was given only a mantra - Deham, Naham, Koham, Soham and
was touched with His stick.  The girl passed into liberation after
a few months, in her native town in Andhra Pradesh, chanting
this mantra, during her brief illness.

Many people come to Him,
Only a few are called,
Still a fewer are chosen!
