The Strangeness of Life
« on: November 10, 2009, 11:02:46 PM »

I keep getting hit with the strangeness of life as I walk about in it.  I can't quite believe it.  I find it strange that particular things exist in this life and other things don't exist.

Cup, plate, road ... what is the meaning of it ?  Why do cups exist ?

Things look very strange.
* Arise, arise, Riders of Theoden!  Spears shall be shaken, Shields shall be splintered,
* A sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
* Ride now, ride for ruin and the world's ending
* Death !!  Death !!  Death !!

Dear rideover,

Who made all these?  Definitely not God.  God made only the
five basic elements, planets, suns and galaxies.  He is a big
man.  He makes big things.  He does not make cups, saucers,
plates, bows and arrows (to kill others), AK 47 and other guns
to (shoot others), chemicals (to make warfare), armoured
vehicles and tanks (to run over civilizations).  All these are
man-made.  You made it and you created a purpose for it.
That is all.

Oh Arunachala, blazing fire of Jnana, in my heart I pray and think of Thee from afar, root out the ego, merging me in the Self.

It is your mental projection that makes things & life exist in first place and then make them look strange.
O Divine, lead me to dizzy heights of sublimity & loftiness

Let me talk about some weird experiences :

After some intensive meditation I think I saw beyond the mind :  I was looking at some objects, a wall, a lamp, and realised instantaneously that these objects are just piles of atoms no different to any other atoms and the only reason we see a wall or a lamp is because the mind paints everything, but if you stop the mind there you can see the world without the paint.  The only difference between an atom and an atom in a lamp is that the mind paints the lamp, but it doesn't actually exist.

Then I saw lots of strange white lights and a vision of Buddha, and then a vision of a woman - perhaps the Virgin Mary, I don't know exactly.  I was under a lot of stress, breathing hard and shaking.  Quite amazing.

This all happened in April, and since then sometimes I wake up.  Suddenly I just wake up and realise I have been dreaming.  But then I fall back to sleep.  I am so terrified when I wake up - terrified of the immense size of the universe, and also terrified that I will fall asleep.  But when I am asleep I am terrified that I might wake up again.   And I flick in and out of waking/dreaming every 20 seconds or so.

This last experience is very traumatic so I have started watching TV a lot, especially Miami Vice !!!  Because I can't deal with it.  I am doing more asanas and physical healing to build up my body so that I can deal with waking up, otherwise it is too much and my head will explode.

? Has anyone experienced this ?

Dear rideover,

Yes.  These are weird.  I have got the feeling of waking up,
while still in half-asleep.  Sometimes, I try to wake up, but
"something" pushes me back.  I have come to live with it.

Most of the experiences are our mental projections.  Seeing the
atoms as atoms and not a conglomeration of teacups will
be the vision of Jnanis.

Brahmasri Nochur Venkataraman said:  If you could see the
atom as atom and not as a wall, you can spread the atoms
on both sides of your hand and walk into the empty space in
between.  We can not do.  We will hit against the wall only.

Bhagavan Ramana "saw" Kavyakanta Ganapati Sastri suffering
from intense burning on his skull, in Tiruvottiyur Ganapati
Temple, due to his Kundalini Yoga practices.  Bhagavan Ramana
"travelled skyward"  to Tiruvottiyur (some 200 kms away from Tiruvannamalai) in a fraction of the second, "descended at
the temple and placed His right palm to cool Sastri's head!

Brahma Jnanis can do all these.  Sri Sankara travelled skyward
to Kaladi from Kasi, to be with his mother Aryamba at the time
of her death.  Kasi and Kaladi are 3000 kms apart.

But in our cases, mostly these are mental projections.
