Agni-karyam (The work with Fire)
« on: November 03, 2009, 12:27:29 PM »
Once in the early days of Hill, Bhagavan Ramana and a few
devotees went for giri-pradakshina.  They carried with them
some rice and greens and salt for cooking on the way for lunch.
After some distance, they came to know that they had not
brought the match-box.  Bhagavan Ramana was smiling and
said:  "What is use of these items, without match-box to make
the fire and cook the rice and greens?  It is like doing everything,
without Jnana vichara for liberation."  Someone rushed to the
Skandasramam and brought the match box.

The importance of Jnana vichara, has also been mentioned
by Bhagavan Ramana, in one of His poems.  Saint Tirumular
calls it Agni karyam, the work with Fire.  It is not merely
fire sacrifices, but roasting your mind with the fire of Jnana
Vichara, he says.
