Navaratri (Dasara) Celebrations in the Asramam
« on: September 27, 2009, 01:10:37 PM »
On Day 8, (Ashtami), Saturday, the Asramam has adorned
Devi as Saraswati.  Saraswati is the wife of Brahma and sister
of Siva, as per puranas. She is the goddess of learning, fine
arts and music.  Generally she is depicted in white robes, with
Veena, seated on white lotus.  She is also sometimes in the pose of holding a book and Japa beads.  She is white in colour like her brother Siva. In Asramam adornments, she is wearing a white sari with Veena on her hands and a peacock standing nearby.  There is a 3 minute video from Asramam.

Saraswati is meditated as Bala, in mantra sastra.  There in that
mantra she is depicted as having a book and Japa beads.
