Narayana Kavacham
« on: September 26, 2009, 01:30:05 PM »
There is a small poem in Srimad Bhagavatam called Narayana
Kavacham, the armour of Narayana.  If and when chanted, it
is said to give protection from enemies and weapons.  The story
in Srimad Bhagavatam has got a funny twist and thus gives the
inner meaning.

There was one Viswarupan.  He was chanting Narayana Kavacham.
People thought that he was invincible.  He did not do any harm
to others but was chanting this poem as protection only, from
enemies if any.  One day, one enemy who did not like Viswarupan
came and beheaded him!  What happened to the efficacy of
Narayana Kavacham?

The chanting of the name Narayana makes on pure in his mind.
He goes beyond love and hate.  He lives in euqipoise.  So
he gets self realization, in his egoless state.  The body's death
is not important for him.

This is what Bhagavan Ramana mentions in Verse 3:

Ahorring all things outside, the yogi or a person doing dhyana,
with controlled mind and breath, meditates on Arunachala.
He realizes the effulgence of Arunachala and merges in Arunachala.

For such a person, why there should be care of body or life?

Arunachala Siva.
