Navaratri (Dasara) Celebrations in the Asramam
« on: September 25, 2009, 02:28:13 PM »
On Day 6, (Sashti), (Thursday), the Asramam had adorned Mother
Uma in the Sesha, the 1000-hooded serpent.  Mother is lying on
the serpent, with a nice smile in her face.  The video runs for
about 3 minutes.

The Serpent, Adisesha is the bed of Narayana.  But Devi is
primordial and she is all the goddesses and gods in one.  Hence
she also lies on the bed of Adisesha.

In Abhirami Andati, the saint-poet Abhirami Bhattar sings:

O You are the primordial Flower.  You can make the fourteen
worlds to bloom.  You sustain these worlds and then dissolve
them, as per your Will.  You are even elder to Siva, the god
with the mark of hala-hala poison on his neck.  But you are
even younger to Narayana, Mukunda, who never gets old.
O the Flower, obainable only through great penance!  How
can I pray to other gods?

In another poem of Abhirami Andati, the poet says:  O the
Flower of penance!  You are the eternal wife of Sankara, the
eternal and brings all welfare to him.  You are also the Mother
to him.  You are the goddess of all gods and goddesses.  When
I am ever getting her grace, how can I serve other gods and become
tired in that process without getting any grace?

Obeisance to Mother who is all in one!

Arunachala Siva.
