Navaratri (Dasara) Celebrations in the Asrmam
« on: September 21, 2009, 01:27:07 PM »
Navaratri Celebrations are going on in the Asramam.  I think
such celebrations were started when Major Chadwick re-introduced
Veda Patasala and daily Vedas chanting in the Asramam.  The
Asramam's official website is giving a small 2 mts. video of the
celebrations.  On Day 1, it was Meenakshi and on Day 2, it was
Gajalakshmi (Mahalakshmi).

I thought I would write about Mother Azhagamma on these days
of Devi worship.  I recall nine anecdotes of Mother Azhagamma,
for these nine day celebrations.

1. Mother Azhagamma met Bhagavan first in Pavalakunru,
Coral Hill, in the Arunachala, at the Pravalanatha Swami temple.
She came for a few days continuously and cried to Bhagavan
asking Him to return to Madurai.  Bhagavan Ramana was sitting
like a stone.  He did not even look at her.  The devotees near
Him, told Him:  She is your mother.  You may atleast speak or
her or if you don't want to speak, at least write something on
this paper.  They gave Him, a paper and pencil.  Bhagavan Ramana wrote there for her the famous Sarangati tatvam.  'As everything
is ordained by God.... it is better to be silent.'  Mother Azhagamma had to return after a few days.

2. On another occasion, she again came to see Bhagavan Ramana.  This time, she was staying with Echamma.  Mother Azhagamma fell sick, with high fever and pneumonia.  Would Bhagavan leave her, at that  stage, when she was to be conferred liberation after a few years.  Bhagavan Ramana wrote the famous song to Arunachala, pleading him to save His mother!  Perhaps this is the only occasion that Bhagavan Ramana pleaded anything to Arunachala for His family.

to be contd.,

Arunachala Siva.
