Surpanaka and Sabari
« on: September 20, 2009, 05:12:24 PM »
Surpanaka was Ravana's sister, who came to the jungle to lure
Rama and Lakshmana.  She came in excellent guise as one of
the most beautiful ladies.  But Rama and Lakshmana said that
she was not at all beautiful.  Later, the brothers went further
towards south in search of Sita who had been abducted.  They
saw Sabari there.  Sabari was a very old lady, with shrunken skin
and practically no teeth.  She was waiting for Rama and Lakshmana to offer them fruits for which she had been waiting for so long.
Rama said that Sabari was very beautiful.

When a person is in Heart, he sees another as Heart, when
there is no body consciounsess in the latter also.  That is why
Sabari was beautiful but Surpanaka was not.  That is why Jnani
like Bhagavan Ramana saw everyone as Jnani.

Sri Arunachala Aksharamanamalai Verse 75 states:

Let the attachment to the physical body end, O Arunachala,
and let me see and be for ever the splendour of Your Being!

Arunachala Siva.
