Death Experience of Bhagavan Ramana
« on: September 15, 2009, 01:40:23 PM »
We all know that Bhagavan Ramana had the death experience in His uncle's
house in Madurai, about 6 weeks before His departure to Arunachala.  But
even before this, when He was a few years younger, His father Sundaram
Iyer had passed away and He went to Tiruchuzhi for ceremonies.  He was
sitting beside the body of His father and He had a vague vichara, enquiry
about death.  This Avyakta Vicharam, perhaps continued for some days
and He soon returned to Madurai.

Bhagavan Ramana says as reported in Suri Nagamma's letters, that He saw
Deasth as an object, without any sense of fear.  He just saw and conquered
it.  It is something like we seeing a dog on the road.  What we do when we
see a stray dog on the road?  Our reaction is to become afraid of it.  Then
take a stone or a stick and harm it.  How many of us see the dog as a simple
object and look at it intently?  This is how Bhagavan Ramana differs from
most of us.

Arunachala Siva.
