Muruganar's Liberation Day - 20.8.2009 - 4
« on: August 22, 2009, 02:09:06 PM »
Muruganar was a Gandhian as per the requirements of his time.
But he was not participating any movements like Salt March etc.,
He brought his mother for Bhagavan's darsan on Mahasivartri
Day in 1924.  He had also brought his school students to Bhagavan's
darsan once.  His mother got liberated soon.  His wife was there.
He had no issues.  He brought mother's ashes to Tiruvannamalai
and Bhagavan told him to drop them in Agni Tirtham.  Muruganar's
wife Meenakshi Amma came with him to Bhagavan Ramana and
was there for a few months.  Muruganar left some money with
one Subramanya Chettiar for his wife's expenses and left for good
to Tiruvannamalai in July 1926.  This Subramanya Chettiar was
given darsan by Bhagavan Ramana and this has been mentioned
by Muruganar in his Keerti Tiru Ahaval.  Song on His Glory.  Subramanya Chettiar readily agreed to take care of Meenakshi
Amma after this darsan.

Muruganar stayed in Palakottu and had lived with his alms everyday.
He never took food in the Asramam unless there were some special
occasions.  Since he had no money to give for his food, he preferred
to live in alms.

Muruganar soon completed Sri Ramana Sannidhi Murai.  But he
had not yet written one like Siva Puranam as in Tiruvachakam,
the first song of that composition.
He had composed some lines but could not complete the poem.
He also did not know how to name the song.  One day, as he
was not able to proceed with the poem,  he left the manuscript
to Bhagavan Ramana and went out.  As he came, he found that
Bhagavan Ramana had completed the last 300+ lines and also
titled it as Ramana Puranam!   When Muruganar came back, he
was delighted to see the poem and its title.  He made an asterik
mark for the last 300+ lines to specify that those were written
by Bhagavan Ramana.  Bhagavan Ramana looked at him and said:
"Oh, only those lines were written by me, and not the others!"

Muruganar became dumbfounded.  He knew his mistake.  Every
line of his poems had been written only by Bhagavan Ramana.
All his works were due to the abundant grace of Bhagavan Ramana.
He was only a pen to write Bhagavan Ramana's works!
He had this conviction regarding all his works.

Sri Ramana Sannidhi Murai was completed and it was published
by Sri Ramanapadananada, one of the ardent devotees of Bhagavan Ramana.  This was in the year 1933. This is the work that
was sung before Bhagavan even during His times.

In Sri Ramana Sannidhi Murai, one can find a lot of biographical
and autobiographical facts of Bhagavan Ramana and Muruganar.

He says in Sri Ramana Sannidhi Murai:  Song of the Holy Presence
of Sri Ramana:

"Ramana shed His cool grace from His eyes and the flood
of poetry came to me.  His grace in my Heart came out
like tide of poems, it is only His Truth and what else?"

Viswanatha Swami wanted to write a benedictory verse for
Sri Ramana Sannidhi Murai.  He wrote two words, Mugavapuri
Murugan and could not proceed.  Mugavaripuri Murugan means
Ramanathapuram Subrahmanya Iyer, ie. Muruganar.  Bhagavan
Ramana Himself wrote a song which runs as:

"Arunachala Ramana, who stays in the Heart, smiled, gazed
and killed the mind.  His immense grace flowed on Muruganar
and he made this Sanndhi Murai, which is as great as Tiruvachakam."

Arunachala Siva.
