Ganga bank, Ganga water and Ganga
« on: August 05, 2009, 06:51:31 PM »
AndyM asked for some clarifications about the question of self
enquiry.  Many devotee-members, srkudai, nonduel (after a long
absence!) and others have furnished beautiful clarifications.

Bhagavan Ramana had the following conversation with a devotee
in the Old Hall.  Many other devotees were also present.

Q:  How to do Self enquiry?

One devotee: Be as you are.  Be with Bhagavan.  Asking about
Self enquiry is like asking for some water for drinking on the
Ganga bank.

Another devotee: It is more like standing neck deep in Ganga
water and saying I am thirsty and I want water!

Bhagavan Ramana looked at the devotees for a minute and with
beaming smile said:

It is like Ganga telling, I am thirsty!

Bhagavan Ramana never approved duality.  Why give example
of Ganga bank, Ganga water etc.,  Be Ganga and you will never
be thirsty!

Dear AndyM,  Be as you are.  You are Bhagavan, you are That.
Be as Bhagavan and be That.  Just Be.

Bhagavan Ramana has also said on some other occasion in Tamil.
Iruntha padiye Iru, Be as you are.  Then how about the worldly
activities?  Selunthum vazhiye sel.  Go in the way as you are
driven to.

The body itself is a disease.  All our thoughts are diseases.
All our questions are intellectual ailments.  Just Be as you are.

Arunachala Siva.
