Echamma (Lakshmi Amma) liberated
« on: June 02, 2009, 10:58:12 AM »
On the night of 27th December 1945, Echamma's peaceful
but suddenb demise came. Echamma has always treated
Bhagavan Ramana's devotees, with equal maternal affection.
She had regaled them with innumerable anecdotes about
Bhagavan in His former times on the Hill.  For thirty years,
she had been taking from the town and serving the midday
food to Bhagavan Ramana and some of the Asramam devotees
daily without fail.  Even during her final days, she was checking
up from other women in her house, whether food has been
sent to Bhagavan Ramana!  On hearing of her death, Bhagavan
was said to have feelingly observed:

"I often told her not to undergo this trouble, but she would
not listen.  Unless she served food to her Bhagavan, she
would never eat herself.  Now Mudaliar Patti, is continuing
in her line.  So Echamma has shuffled of her body.  Only
Mudaliar Patti remains.  But my load still remains."

These words were quite prophetic.  Bhagavan Ramana shed
His body only after Mudaliar Patti's liberation.  Echammal
and Mudaliar Patti were the two great stalwart-devotees
of Bhagavan Ramana, whom He had taken care to ensure
liberation.
