Taking Ramana's Example
« on: April 22, 2009, 11:42:59 AM »
After Realization and until reaching Arunachala ... Ramana travelled by train, sought food etc ... the way he did it ... without giving even the least importance to food, body or anything ... in total vairagya ... that is an example for us ... an illustration as to how we may live it up.

Bhagavan Ramana displayed total vairagya and saranagati in
His activities.  After reaching Arunachala, He went inside the
Arunachaleswara Temple, embraced the Linga and said: "I have
reported to you as per your command!"  The whole temple was
immersed in bright light.  After coming out, He went to Ayyankualam
Tank, where He removed His dhoti, tore out a kaupina and wore it.
HE DID NOT KEEP THE REMAINING DHOTI TO HAVE AN ALTERNATE
KAUPINA!  Whatever the sweets and savouries, the sister of Muthukrishna Bhagavtar gave to Him, He threw them away.  HE DID NOT KEEP A PORTION FOR NEXT SESSION OF FOOD! Nor did He
keep the small amounts of money that were in His hand for any 'emergency'.  It was already September, the beginning of less heat
and more chill winds in Tamil Nadu and what He would have felt?
None of the definitions of books will describe Vairagya and Saranagati more graphically than these deeds of His.

Arunachala Siva.
