Go, Without Fear
« on: March 15, 2009, 03:21:19 PM »
This is from the hitherto unpublished manuscript of B.V. Narasimha
Swami, dated 1929.

Kaveripatnam Post Master, Narayana Swami Iyer, waits on Maharshi
for days and before parting mentions his condition. " I am possessed
by sudden fears. What am I to do?"

Bhagavan:  What fears?

Iyer: E.g. I am afraid I will get disease?

Bhagavan:  Who gets disease? Do you get it?

Iyer: Of course, it is the body, it is my body gets it.

Bhagavan:  If you analyze what you are, you see that disease cannot
affect you?

Iyer:  I fear death, sometimes.

Bhagavan:  What are You?  Do You die?  Can You die?

Iyer:  I am Atma and the Atma is immortal.

Bhagavan:  Think of that.  Realize that.

Iyer:  I try but that does not remain in the mind long.

Bhagavan:  Practice, long practice makes perfect.

Iyer:  Meanwhile, there is suffering.

Bhagavan: There need not be any suffering -- your Vichara keeps off the suffering also.

Iyer: The mind requires to be strengthened.  Pray strengthen my mind.

Bhagavan:  Go, without fear!
