Vasanas and pursuit in Self abidance - 14

GVK 477:

God will grant himself here and now to whomsoever offers himself to God.  Only he who has lost himself and whose consciousness has taken the form of That (Brahman) will revel in the experience of the pure, and unchanging Sivam.

Muruganar has sung about Surrender here.  He also quotes Kandar Anubhuti of Arunagiri Natha, verse 2 and Tayumanavar.  Giving oneself and taking Sivam in exchange is the surrender.  It is this barter that Manikkavachagar indicates in an extremely elegant way in Tiruvachakam, Koil Tiru Padigam, Verse. 10.

What You have given is Yourself,
What You took in exchange, O Sankara, is me.
Who is the wiser of us two?
What I have gained is Bliss that has no end,
What single thing have You obtained from me?
O Lord, who made my mind Your shrine!
Hail Siva, dwelling in Holy Perundurai!
For Your taking up residence in my body,
I cannot, my Father, God,
offer You any fitting recompense.

(Tamil: Thanthathu Un thannai, Kondathu En thannai, Sankara,
yar kolo chaturar....)

This emphasizes the little known truth that supreme devotion (Para
bhakti) and Jnana arise at the same time.
