Vasanas and pursuit in Self abidance - 6
« on: March 04, 2009, 12:52:35 PM »
Muruganar says in Guru Vachaka Kovai, verse 242:

If, whenever the 'Vasanas' issue forth the mind-fort, you keep on destroying those numerous enemies with the marvellous weapon
of Atma-Vichara, then the enemy fortress will ultimately come
into your possession.

This is a reflection on the sayings of Bhagavan Ramana in Who am I?

Bhagavan Ramana says in Who am I?:  If one resorts uninterruptdely to Self-remembrance until one attains Self, that alone will be sufficient.  As long as there are enemies within the fort, they will
continue come out.  If one continues to cut all of them dowsn as and when they come, the fort will fall into our hands.

{ Note the words "enemies in the fort", in Who am I? (1901).  He means here the existence of Vasnanas for everyone, including Ramana, right from the baby takes shape in the womb.  One has to
annihlate all the thoughts, (offspring of Vasanas), as and when they come out from the Heart, go to the brain, to project desires, love, hate, pains, miseries, happiness, and misery, dhukkam.}

In Sri Ramana Deva Malai, verse 139, Muruganar says, (as a reflection of TirukkuRaL, verse 879.):

"Cut down the thorn tree when it is tender and young,
For when it grows strong
The cutter's hands will be mangled."
