Poet Chokkanatha singing to a King
« on: March 02, 2009, 04:52:26 PM »
Poet Chokkanatha was in chill penury, with nothing to eat and nothing to wear and no shelter to rest.  He went to a King in
Pandya Kingdom and sang the following song:

O the king, philanthrophic like Karpaga tree!
Siva has given half of his body to Uma,
And another half to his brother in law Narayana.
He left his Ganga on the ground and the serpents in the jungles,
He left his moon on the sky.  He has nothing now, he is formless,
But he has left the philanthropy with you,
And the paining proverty to me!
