Merging of Siva Kalas in Chidambaram
« on: February 22, 2009, 04:27:14 PM »
I was informed about an interesting concept from an orator in
Sri Sankara, TV, a new channel that telecasts in Tamil and Kannada,
on spiritual matters.  It is believed that all the Siva Kalas from various temples of Siva from Kailash to Rameswaram, merge in
Siva-Nataraja, in Chidambaram after the midnight poojas in various
temples.  Hence, the ardha-jama pooja in Chidambram is done after 12 midnight and then the shrine is closed.

In the morning, the Siva Kalas get back to various temples, and so
the noon-pooja in various temples are concluded around 12 noon and then these shrines are closed.  The last one to have noon-pooja, after 12 noon is Tiru Pasur, near Kanchipuram, where the Siva Kalas received  to rest for midafternoon, where the shrine is closed after 12 noon.

Arunachala Siva.
