Who am I?
« on: May 07, 2008, 10:19:08 PM »
Q:Who am I?
M:I don't know.
Who am I?
I DON"T KNOW.
Who am I?
I don't know who I am, all I know is I am.
Who am I?
I am only what I am not
Who am I? Who is having this thought if I am not?
I am without that knowledge.
Who am I?
I am not this mind.
So who am I?
I am not this ego.
So who am I?
I am not who I feel I am.
Who am I?
I am not this body.
Who am I then?
I am awareness of all I am not.
Who am I?
I am ME. You are ME. ME are you. Just ME is here. Always.

Who am I?
I am I-I ("thaan")
and not I ("naan").
When I am Brahman, then by Guru will say:  You are  That.

"Brahman' is not the appropriate word. Correct answer is ' I AM ' or ' AHAM ASMI '.

Pranam,

Who am I?

If there is an answer, I don't really know.

If there is no answer, I really don't know.

Dear Disciple,

Bhagavan Ramana says, if you ask Who am I?, you will get answers
showing what are not 'I'.  I am not body, I am not mind, I am not
nescience, I am not five sheaths, I am not five pranas etc., etc.,
these negative answers are Neti Neti as shown in Upanishads. Ultimately, it will go to the Source and there is only Silence.

Pranam,
Dear Subramanian.R,
The answers you are talking about are intellectual and can help only to an extent.
Although the answer can only be in the realization of what one is not; it is a wisdom irrevocably gained and not a practise of Neti Neti.
The silence is the absolute incapacity of the mind to put in any kind of words or concepts, the Reality one is. Only when the mind is totally incapable of describing what one is then true knowledge has occurred.

Om shri Ramana.

you are both right...subrmanian is right because slef inquiery always starts in the intellect...it may even shift back when you allready tasted non-dual states of mind, presence, peace etc. because if something in the intellect is not totally integratedm, if there is still a thought or voice who does not belive the fact that Iam is Iam..then you need to do slef inquery

and disciple is also right in saying that the question who am I is not intelelctual at all...

but till it is beyond intellect it is intellectual....and even after you had lets say 20 awakenings, and even you can stay 50% of the day as presence....you still can go back and work with the ego, the intellect because as I mentioned every littel tine bot of my ego needs to see tat jiva=siva

before the peace is just partial
