Veda Patasala in the Asramam
« on: February 17, 2009, 01:04:13 PM »
Krishna Ganapatigal was the teacher of Veda Patasala in the Asramam, since its inception in 1934/35. He served as a teacher for about 40 years till his retirement in 1980.  He was initially paid only a salary of Rs 5 per month.  He used to teach the boys from 9 am to 11 am, take his lunch in the Asramam and then again teach from 4 pm, conduct the Vedaparayana at 5 pm.  He sometimes used to sleep in the Hall itself in the afternoons on the Hall near Bhagavan.  He also performed cow-pujas.  After Bhagavan Ramana's Maha Nirvana, the Vedapatasala was suspended between 1950-53.  In 1953, Major Chadwick took great efforts to revive the same. Major Chadwick also bought a small house for Ganapatigal near the Asramam.  Sri Krishna Ganapati merged into Bhagavan Ramana's Lotus Feet, in May 2007, at the ripe age of 97.
