Miracles Do Happen
« on: January 27, 2009, 12:10:59 PM »
Madeline Mende passed away on April 7, 1970 at the age of 67.
In going through her personal papers, a friend of hers, Barbara
Slof, came across an unfnished book in which there is a description
of "How I cam to the Maharshi."

" I occasionally met a friend in busy downtown Deteriot.  I mentioned Lanyon books.  She swiftly stated: "Listen!  You should
really read Maharshi's books."  The Maharshi is Lanyon's Teacher.
"I am leaving town soon but you may use my two Maharshi books briefly for three days."  Only three days.  Of course, I tried to copy parts from those precious books sensing their special rare-true
value.

"Two years passsed.  At last a few Maharshi's books were available in New York.  Heart and soul cheered.  The books were ordered, however I wasn't home when the postman tried to deliver them.
Our local post office cloes at 5 O' clock.  I arrived at six noting that books were available for me in the post office at 8 O' clock the next
morning.

I stood still in eager anticipation.  "This minute right here, I am
fourteen hours from a Maharshi book."

My own books!  Spiritual feast to be savoured slowly.  Much of the
reading was done with a sense of Light in joyous silence.

Then came the day of my life, in mid-morning, in mid-summer.
On this sunshiny morning, August 1961, I sat in a lawn chair in a
secluded grassy inner courtyard. Mind was still, bliss of Being amidst tears of ecstasy.

"My very dear own Guru Maharshi
my very dear own Guru Maharshi."

Six accurate, sacred sweet words stated two times from the heart!

In the words of another, -- "my fate and all that I was passed from that moment into the sacred hands of the Bhagavan for ever."

Layons was with Madeline Mende during her last days.  She knew even one month before her passing of a vision she had of what would happen at the moment of giving up the body.  When she did finally pass on one month later, it was in complete peace and very
quickly.  Fully conscious towards the end, she said:

"With Bhagavan's Grace, -- LET ME GO IN PEACE."
