The musicians of Siva (One of the 63 Saiva Devotees)
« on: January 08, 2009, 11:25:29 AM »
Sekkizhar, the author of Periya Puranam, then describes a group of
musicians to Siva.  All these come under one number in the list.  These
musicians were capable of singing songs in Sanskrit and Tamil, in angelic
voice and also were playing various instruments to the tune of these
songs, with veena, flute, yazh and other such gadgets.  They were
convinced that this music, Nada Upasana, with pure mind and melting
heart would take them to the Abode of Siva.  They were melting in
their hearts while singing or playing the instruments, and thus overcame
the ego in their lives.
