A Zen Master asked one of his students to get him a pail of cold
water to cool his hot water bucket.  The student brought the water
and after cooling his hot water bucket, threw the remaining onto the
ground.

The Master shouted at him:  "You fool, why didn't you give the water
to the plants?  You have no right to waste even a drop of water in
this temple."

This was the student's awakening.  He changed his name later to
Tekisui, which means 'a drop of water' in Japanese.
