Somasi Mara Nayanar (One of 63 Siva Saints)
« on: December 14, 2008, 10:18:13 AM »
In a village called Ambar, there was a Siva devotee called Somasi
Maran.  He was constantly praying to Ardhanareeswara in the local
temple.  He was a Brahmin, adept in Somayaji Yaga.  He performed
this sacrifice often and prayed to Siva.  He came to know that the great
saint Sundaramoorthy was in Tiruvarur.  He made a trip to Tiruvarur
constantly chanting Panachakshara on the way.  On seeing Sundaramoorthy, he attached himself to the great saint immediately
and spent some happy days in his company, by visiting and praying to
Vanmikanatha of Tiruvarur.

By his sacrifices, mantra and constant association with Sundaramoorhty,
which purified him further, he merged in Siva effugence, at the
appropriate time.
