Tayumanavar Songs
« on: December 02, 2008, 11:35:36 AM »
This verse is also from the composition called Malai Valar Kadhali,
the Queen reared by the Mountain, that is Uma, Hymavati.

Verse 1 reads as under:

I have a home, I have wealth, I have wife and children,
I have relatives, I have enough intellect to live in this world,
I have good  health and sleep, I have also got adequate knowledge
To avoid the Yama of ignorance, and I know about liberation,
I have enough Jnana and I know herbs to lengthen my life span!
What is the use, if only I do have devotion towards you Mother,
O the Effulgence of Jnana, the Ocean of Mercy, that has gulped
   all the scriptures!
O the Sound of Sahasrara and the Silence of Vedanta!
Please kill my ego that always troubles me as I, I and I,
Kill my mind, O the Moon! the moon-like Queen, the sister
 of Madhusudana!
The daugher of Himavan, pupil-like child of Himavan,
            the  Queen of Himalayas, Hymavati!
