Verse 42, of Sivananda Lahari of Sri Sankara compares the mind
with a fortress. The verse reads as under:

O Deva, who is fond of staying in a fortress which cannot be reached.
Please have my mind.  This has got the depth like water-shed that
is around the fort.  There is high wall of my bold character.  It has
the good conducts as the close-knit army.   All the five contrlled
sense organs are its gateways.  Wisdom is its wealth inside the fort,
and all the necessary things that are needed.  Please always stay
in my mind.

Verse 43, of Sivananda Lahari of Sri Sankara, compares the mind
with a jungle.

O Deva of the mountain!  Please do not go here and there.  Please
stay in my mind.  O the Primoridal Hunter!  My mind is a veritable
jungle, with a lot of ferocious animals, like jealousy, desire and delusion.
Please hunt them as you please, and have a pleasant time in this
jungle.
