Miracles do happen
« on: November 12, 2008, 10:04:36 AM »
When Bhagavan Ramana was on the Hills, Echammal used to send
food to Him.  She was doing for 40 years.  She would herself go on
some days and on other days, she used to send her foster daughter,
Chellammal for sending the food.  She used to fast on Kartikai day
of each month and also on several such days.  She insisted on Chellammal, the young daugher also to fast.  Once when Chellammal
went with food to Bhagavan Ramana, He asked whether she had
eaten.  Chellammal replied saying that she is fasting.  Bhagavan
Ramana's heart melted as He heard this.  Why a child should also
fast?  What is this practice?  Suddenly Chellammal gave some eats,
in a paper packet.  That paper contained a sloka saying that in
the presence of Jnani, in Sat Sangh, all these religious practices
are not necessary.  Bhagavan Ramana explained this sloka to that
little Chellammal and asked for to share the food with Him.  He
also told her to tell her mother not to insist on her fasting, as per this
sloka.  This is the famous Sloka which comes as Verse 4 of Ulladu
Narpadu, Sat Darsanam, Supplement!
