Decad on Oh! Oh!
« on: November 10, 2008, 02:21:57 PM »
Saint Poet Manikkavachagar's Acho Padigam, was the last of
Tiruvachakam.  Tiruvachakam starts with, in Siva Puranam,
the first decad, "Glory to Namasivaya, Glory to His feet!'
and ends as 'Who can get it, Acho, Acho!' in Acho Padigam.
Scholars have said that the first and the last line sums up the
essence of Tiruvachakam:  If you chant Namasivaya and contemplate
on Siva, you will get that bliss. Who else can get?

Verse 1 reads like this:

I moved with those scoundrels who do not know the way to salvation,
You came and taught me devotion, contemplation and rooted out
   my karmas,
You snapped the dirt of mind, you made me Sivam, the bliss,
O Father, how can I explain your grace. Who else can get this?

Verse 10 reads like this:

I roamed with those wastrels who do not the way to Perfection,
You came and snapped my three dirts, you the First Principle,
You also considered me fit and placed this dog on a palanquin,
O Mother, how can I explain your grace. Who else can get this?
