Jnani's Sublime State
« on: November 07, 2008, 10:20:28 AM »
Many devotees used to ask Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi,
whether a Brahma Jnani is as great as an avatara, or an whether
avatara, like Rama or Krishna is more sublime.

Bhagavan Ramana always answered and stressed that a Brahma
Jnani is in the most sublime state, and is greater than even avataras
like Rama and Krishna.

He used to quote a verse from Brahma Gita and Kurun Thirattu, a
Tamil treatise.

Brahma Gita verse reads like this:

Jnani is Isvara Himself and Liberation is in his place,
Those who serve a Jnani, have their heads in his feet,
Even Mahsevara is not equal to that sublime Jnani,
Even Hari cannot compare to his state,
And for that matter, no one can be compared to him.

Kurn Thirattu verse reads like this:

The god that swallowed the world, (Vishnu) will carry a Jnani
  over his head!
The god that swallowed the poison, (Siva), will go behind a Jnani,
doing oddjobs and seeking the dust of his feet!

Even the great kings and devas will serve a Jnani in all directions,
The lotus seated god (Bramha), will request a Jnani, to keep his
feet over his head!

Bhagavan is Brahma jnani. Once Ganapathi sastri saw 6 starts decended and touched Bhagavan as if they prayed to Him.
Many siddas came for His blessings in animal form. When He came to Thruvannamalai from Madurai first He entered
Annamalai temple, there was a sudden shower, as if Varuna deva welcomed Him with Poorna kumba.

Dear Ramanaduli,

You must have read this also.  When Bhagavan Ramana entered
the Arunachalesvara Temple around 11 am on that Tuesday,
He went straight inside the sanctum sanctorum.  There were
providentially no one in the temple, not even priests.  He hugged
the Siva Linga and said:  "Father!  In accordance with Your command,
I have come to You!"  There was effulgence everywhere in the
temple, which drowned both Ramana and the Siva Linga!  It lasted
for a few minutes and then He came out.  He had a tonsure, threw
away all His belongings, wore only a cod piece, and did not want
even to take a bath.  The showers came and bathed Him!  This is
the red letter Tuesday, the coming of Siva Kumara (for whom Tuesday
is the favourite day), to Siva.  Kavyakanta Ganapati Sastri calls
Him, an avatra of Skanda.

Arunachala Siva.
