Sri Lalita Sahasranamam
« on: October 31, 2008, 12:31:38 PM »
Sri Lalita Sahasranamam, is a composition of 1000 Holy Names
of Sri Lalita, the Goddess.  This is chanted by many women folk
in India everyday or atleast on Fridays.  This is from a Purana, and
Bhaskara Raya, a Brahmin who lived in Tiruvidaimaruthur, a village
in Tamil Nadu has written a commentary on that.  This commentary
is followed by all devi worshippers.

The first three names attributed to Sri Lalita are quite significant.

1. Sri Mata -  The Mother - Goddess, the Godhead or the Self.

2. Sri Maha rajni - The Great Ruler, the Guru.

3. Srimad Simhasensvari -  One who sits on a lion-carved
throne or one who rides on a ferocious lion.  This is the Self
within, riding on your ferocious lion of mind!  Or even vice versa!

Arunachala Siva.
