The thoughts about desire for woman
« on: October 23, 2008, 11:43:54 AM »
Once in 1938, Annamalai Swami suddenly develped desire for
woman and he felt very guilty.  For three or four days, he had
no sleep, he could not take food properly.  The thoughts were
haunting him and the guilt for the thoughts were killing him.
He went and told Bhagavan Ramana: "Swami, I am suffering
for the past three days.  What will happen to me?"

Bhagavan was silent for about 2 minutes and then said coolly:

"Okay, thoughts have come and thoughts have gone.  Why are
you thinking about such thoughts still and feeling guilty?  Do
not think about 'the thoughts that had come and gone'.  Instead,
investigate to whom these thoughts had come?  Then, those
thoughts would run away!"

Dear Subramanian,
At the time of this incident outside atmosphere is very hot and Bhagawan asked Annamalai to stand in that heat for one hour and during that one hour Bhagawan focussed his attention on him.Later Bhagawan advised him to take Pallis only for 15days.Annamalai told me that
he is free from the problem later forever.

Dear Dr. Raju,

Thank you for the additonal information.  This is a news to me.
Annamalai Swami in his reminscences of Sri Ramansramam has
not mentioned this "special treatment" of Bhagavan Ramana.

Dear srkudai,  As far as I know there is no downloadable books
of Annamalai Swami or books on him.  There are two books edited
by David Godman and these are not definitely available as e-books.
Perhaps some excerpts may be available in his blog, www.davidgodman.org.  The book from which I am quoting some
incidents/teachings are from an older Tamil book called, Sri
Rama Ninaivugal, published by Sri Annamalai Swami Asram, Palakottu,
Tiruvannamalai.  The only edition was in 1995. The copies may be
available in Sri Ramansramam.
