How a Jnani should leave the body?
« on: October 22, 2008, 01:06:30 PM »
Once when Major Chadwick asked Bhagavan Ramana:  "How
come that people do not want simple ways and solutions?"
Bhagavan Ramana replied: "Yes, that is the nature of the people.
They want elaborate and secret ways and solutions."  For example,
Christians like if some one says that God is somewhere in Heaven,
and he can be reached only through dioceses.  Only Jesus knows
the God. They are not satisfied if some one says: "The Kingdom
of God is within you."  Excepting the advanced seekers, others
want complicated methods to satisfy them.

One day Bhagavan Ramana said: "Saint Manikkavachagar dissolved
his body in a large effulgence."  I asked Him:  "How is it possible?"
Bhagavan answered:  "The body is a compressed mind.  When mind
is dissolved in Jnana, the body also gets dissolved.  Saint Nandanar,
is also an example for this."  I pursued saying: " Yes.  In Bible it
is said that Eliza left for heavens in a chariot of fire.  Since it is
said in a poetic form, many do not understand this.  Perhaps, Jesus
disappearing from the tomb may also mean this."  Bhagavan intervened
and said: "No. It is different. Jesus lived for some more time after
crucifixion."  Jnanis can live in subtle bodies in the firm of light
and sound vibrations.

Bhagavan when questioned by a commission which came for
enquiring about the Asram ownership, whether He is an avatara
of Subrahmanya,"  Bhagavan did not give any reply.  (Here
Annamalai Swami says that Bhagavan answered: "I am Subrahmanya.
I am every one!")

Bhagavan also said:  "An avatara is a small part of Godhead. But
a Jnani is God Himself."

Bhagavan has also said that a Jnani can leave his body, at his will,
in any manner that he likes.  This idea is also said in Kaivalya Navaneetam
and Viveka Choodamani.

Dear sir,

I asked about Bheeshma's death will, Dr, Raju ji said, Bheeshma and Vidhur both are jnani. Now from this post I came to know that jnani can leave his body at his will in any manner.

Thanking you,

Dear Ramanaduli,

Yes.  Jnanis had the will to leave the body at any place and at
anytime.  Viveka Choodmani says, Jnanis do not care whether
the body is left behind in a forest or in a temple precincts or on
a river.
