What is Guru's paramount duty?
« on: October 22, 2008, 12:32:59 PM »
Bhagavan Ramana always advised His devotees that no one
should take the highly responsible work of a Guru-ship.  It
might make them to learn siddhis to please their devotees in turn
and it shall prevent them from reaching their goals.

When Bhagavan Ramana was very ill during the last months,
Narayana Rao, the doctor asked Him to live longer to help the
devotees.  Bhagavan replied him with all the kindness:

"Guru's paramount duty is to ensure His Permanent Presence
to the devotees.  After this is done, He should have no difficulty
to leave His body."

This clearly shows that Bhagavan has ensured His Permanent
Presence to all His devotees.  He did  not prescribe any qualification
for His devotees excepting taking Moderate Sattvic food and maintaining
a Sat Sangh. Since the food makes up the body and since the mind
is only a compressed body, He insisted on the Sattvic food.
