Heart-Centre is the best for meditation
« on: October 21, 2008, 01:27:31 PM »
Bhagavan Ramana has always stressed on the Heart Centre
for meditation.  Regarding the meditation on the midpoint of
two eyebrows, He said that it involves a duality, since you are in the
Heart Centre and you have to meditate on a centre which is not you.
This needs some Japa.  That means, both the physical eye and the
physical ear are to be alert.  These additonal requirements are not
there in respect of Heart Centre.  You have to just be still and meditate
on your Heart Centre.  Hence this is Supreme.

Dear srkudai,  Heart Centre, as Bhagavan said is on the right
side of the chest, two digits right to the midchest.  This is for
all seekers, which is of course, duality.  But no mantra is needed.
Heart Centre becomes the Heart or the Self, all pervading, in and
out, high and low, left and right, without any specific location, after
realization.

Ddear Subrhmaniyan ji

For beginers we have some form or name. When Bhagavan told it is on the right side of the chest. I think we can meditate in duality in starting. It is also said that it is not phsical organ. It is not  in side also. Then, is it outside of the area? Even in yoga they say there are 6 chakras but not in human body. Those chakras also out side of the body?. Just we have to keep in mind  is it so?  Can you explain in more detail this information

Dear Ramanaduli,

Bhagavan mentioned this Heart Centre or Heart Cave, as only
inside the body.  He has said in Sri Ramana Gita and Ulladu Narpadu,
"Hrydaya Guhara madhye".  Esoterically, it can be everywhere and
so also the chakras  of raja yoga.  But for seekers, it should be taken
as only inside the body, two digits to the right of the midchest,
different from blood pumping physical heart.

The idea is that one need not seek Godhead outside.  God is inside
in the cave of the Heart.  Upon self-realization, you will understand
that Heart is everywhere, because Heart is the Self, Brahman, or
Siva.

Yesterday or a few days back, some one asked where the said quotation of Bhagavan
Ramana comes in Maharshi Voi Mozhi and he has searched that book and did not find it.
Since it is my 2008 post, I have to look into Maharshi Voi Mozhi once again and I read
the whole book.

The reference as I posted, does not come in one paragraph.  For devotees questions,
Bhagavan Ramana has clarified both these points, Viz., Atma Vichara has to be done
only looking within Heart Centre and not on the mid eye brow or crown.  This appears
as Bhagavan's answer for more than one or two questions.  It is in Chapter II of
Maharshi Voi Mozhi, under the headings, Hrudayam and Atma and Hrudaya Sthanam.
He has also quoted Kamal's story (Kabir Das' son) to prove this point.  Kabir Das
story is in Bhakta Vijayam.

Again, I caution that all these are only for seekers. For the one who has realized
Atma=Arunachala=Heart is everywhere.

Dear Akira,

I should only thank you because you made me to read Maharshi Voi Mozhi once again
on the evening of Wednesday.  It is a powerful book and contains most of the answers
that are elaborated in Talks and Day by Day.
