How many verses of Viveka Choodamani, one should recite daily?
« on: October 21, 2008, 12:36:58 PM »
M. SODOUSKY, (later Mouni Sadhu) came to Bhagavan Ramana,
by the end of 1949 and stayed upto Bhagavan Ramana's Maha Nirvana,
and perhaps even longer.  He was a spriritually advanced soul, and
he was in the Arunachala Group of Brazil.  He published a little
book in Portugese language, inter alia, containing quotations from
Viveka Choodamani and Imitation of  Christ by Thomas Kempis.

Once Bhagavan asked for the book and He went thorough the
contents (a Portugese book!) and suggested to M. Sodousky,
to give the sources of the quotations of all the verses of Viveka
Choodamani and also the book of Kempis.  Sodousky spent some
days in the Asram library and did that work.

Sodousky has chosen a quite number of Viveka Choodamani verses,
about 60 or so of them, for daily meditation and contemplation.

Further, he has chosen 9 verses from Viveka Choodamani,
for daily recitation and contemplation.  These are, (as per
Sanskrit Book),

Verses 409, 255, 256, 257, 258, 260, 261, 263 and 264.

Even though this selection must have been approved by Bhagavan
Ramana, there is no confirmation to that effect.
