Durga Pooja Celebrations:- (8)
« on: October 06, 2008, 02:35:38 PM »
Uma is three in one.  She is Durga, Lakshmi and Sarasvati.  She
gives food, first, as Annapurani.  Because one cannot do anything
in life, in an empty stomach, leave alone self enquiry!   She gives then knowledge, the Self knowledge for the soul, as Sarasvati.   She then gives
wealth and riches, adequate enough for living.

Mother Azhagmma and later His aunt gave food for Bhagavan.
On Self realization, He came to Tiruvannamalai.  He started at
the noon time on 29.8.1886, Saturday to Tiruvannamalai.  He
just took a country apple in the train.  He reached Vilupuram,
on the morning of 30.8.1886, Sunday.  He was given food at
noon time, by a hotel owner, who refused to take money from Him!

He travelled to Mambazhapattu.  He had no money.  Again He
walked upto Araiyani Nallu, later in the evening.  In the temple,
the cook refused to give Him food, the prasad of the temple.
He further walked upto Kilur, where in the Siva temple, He was
again refused food, prasad, by the priest, but the drummer in
the temple offered his share!  He lied down on the street.

On 31.8.1886, Monday, in the same town of Kilur, He pawned His ear
studs!  Smt Muthu Krishna Bhagavatar, wife of the pawn broker,
gave Him food and snacks in a pocket, because it was the day
of Krishna Janmashatami festival! Late night, on 31.8.1886,
He took a train and reached Tiruvannamalai, on the morning
of 1.9.1886, Tuesday, He reached His Father's Abode, Tiruvannamalai.

In Tiruvannamalai, He had food only after another one or two days.
He begged on the streets of Tiruvannamalai and several mothers
gave Him food.  Then came Echammal, Mudaliar Patti and others.

So, Uma as Durga or Annapurani, fed Him at various places on the way and during His early days arrival.  Sarasvati, had already fed Him
full with self knowledge in Madurai, at his uncle's house in Chokkappa
Naicken Street.  He never bothered much about Lakshmi.  She came
on Her own accord in due course, for construction of the Asram,
publication of books, feeding visitors everyday etc.,

On this Durga Pooja Celebrations, let us think of all those
mothers who fed Him food, gave Him self knowledge and
gave Him, money consruction of the Asram, feeding and publication
of books.

Arunachala Siva.
