Vidu Thiru Namam:  continues.....

1. O Arunachala, for You, who burnt Tripura, beat Narasimha,
burnt Manmatha, and kicked Yama, the god of death, was it
a great work to kill your father-in-law?*  O fools, why waste
time, and get lost,  without praying the Arunachala, the Hill with
dense honeycombs?

(The burning of Tripura, Manmatha and kicking of Yama and
killing Daksha is known to all readers.  The beating of Narasimha,
has happened in a place called Tiru bhuvanam, in Tamil Nadu.
Narasimha, after tearing of Hiranya Kashyap and drinking his
blood, did not become cool, and was still raging with anger. Siva
appeared before the man-lion in Tiru bhunvanam, as a huge
bird called Sarabha, and embraced and beat the man-lion to
make his anger retreat.  The sculpture of Sarabha can be seen
in Tiru bhuvanam temple, and Siva there is called Sarabesvara.)

2. O Arunachala, when shall I conquer my lust for gold, lands,
flower like women and rich food with six tastes?  Please grace
me to do tapas on the Hill and spend time fruitfully to gain

3.  If a person nicely eats animal flesh and comes to Arunachala
to tell your name, O Arunachala, it is like spewing fire on me
and you!

to be contd....

Arunachala Siva.
