Guhai Namasivaya's Poems - (9)
« on: September 20, 2008, 01:31:37 PM »
1. O Arunachala, who is the  controller of god of death (Yama)
and god of passion, (Manamatha),  why should people run around
for all sorts medicines and herbs.  You are the Medicine for all
our great ailment of this birth and death.

(The conviction that the Arunahcala Hill  or the Arunachala Lingam
in the temple, is the greatest medicine, is held by all poets and
Jnanis.  Bhagavan also calls the Hill, as "malai-marunthu", the
Hill Medicine in His works.)

2. O fellows, I am telling you, if you hold on to the feet of
Arunachala, before your joints loosen up, bones break up,
before you have a non-stop coughing that shall smother
your body, before you take a stick even to walk, you are
saved.  If you do not care to do that, you are a sinner and
you are doomed for ever!

3. O fellows!  What is the use of bathing in Ganga and a hundred
other such rivers?  If you listen intently to Arunachala's name,
contemplate on the Hill or visit Arunachala once, all your sins
will be washed away and you shall attain liberation.  Go, go to
Arunchala and play your Conch Shell and cry: Arunachala!
Arunachala!

(To see the Hill, or to even think of it from afar, Arunchala will]
confer liberation -  Arunachala Mahatmyam.)

to be contd....

Arunachala Siva.
