Vidu Thiru Namam:  Chanting Siva's names:  (continues...)

1. In the dense forest, you gave milk to a baby-pig, which
was crying in hunger and could not even open its eyes. O
Siva!  I bow to you, who comes from Kailash swiftly to take
care of the hunger and thirst of devotees!  Arunachala, when
you are there ever willing to come swiftly, why should I ask
for food from others?

(In Tiruvilaiyadal Puranam, depicting the 64 plays of Siva,
there is a story, where a pig was hunted by a tiger, and the
baby-pig was crying without milk.  Siva came from Kailash,
as mother pig, and fed the baby-pig with its breasts.

This story is also narrated by Saint Manikkavachagar, in his
Tiruvchakam.  The Tiruvilaiyadal Puranam, is a book liked by
Bhagavan Ramana, very much.  This book has been published
by Sri Ramanasramam.)

2.  O Arunachala, the One who has no desire and hatred, if
I garland with you Bhilva leaves on every Monday and pray
to you, Liberation will be conferred upon me swiftly.

(Monday is the most auspicious day for Siva.  People fast on
Mondays, place Bhilva leaves on Siva's image or Lingam in
their home altar and pray to Siva on Mondays.)

3.  People go to forest to fetch rare herbs and go to traders to
buy medicines, to cure their illness and lengthen their life span.
What avail?  Is it not adequate to pray to Arunachala everyday,
so that the greatest ailment of this birth and death  will be
cured by him?

to be contd....

Arunachala Siva.
