« on: September 18, 2008, 01:00:14 PM »
Guhai Namasivya lived in Tiruvnnamali and attended Videha
Kaivalyam there.  His period is after Saint Arunagiri Natha, who
wrote Tiruppugazh on Murugan, about 6 centuries ago.  Guhai
Namasivaya is said to have lived in T. Malai, about 5 centuries ago.
Guhai Namasivaya is a Kannada by birth, and moved to T. Malai
to do Siva Pooja and Siva Samadhi Yoga.  He was a man of great
power and wisdom and he has composed one song per day during
his 200 years of living!  He was living on alms, had no home and
was staying in the Hill.

Bhagavan Ramana was living in Guhai Namasivaya Cave, for
some time.  During this period, He chanced to notice some old
palmyra leaves inside the cave, which contained poems of Guhai
Namasivyah.  This was around 1900-1910.  He read this palmyra
leaves, and copies about 540 poems in a note book with pencil.
This note book remained with Him and was not further noticed by
anyone.  Later, with other manuscripts of Bhagavan Ramana, this
was also placed in the Archives.  After about 40 years, that is
around 1990s, the Ashram authorities with the help of Dr.
Venkata Subramanian, David Godman and others studied these
manuscripts and brought out a compendium of Guhai Namasivaya's
poems.  These poems were studied, for metrical mistakes etc.,
and now they have brought a Tamil books containing 542 songs
of Guhai Namasivaya, duly arranged into several headings.
