Jewell, and why don't you make some of your own rules of dealing with departed, making a tribute to them from your own sincere heart? It is not always someone has to say to you how you should do it, it simply comes from the heart... for example I would burn incense to someone's grave regardless of the rules society or local customs want to impose on us...... or something else...

Jewell, I heard the same things for Serbia... It is truth that here, every village, every town or a city, has its own rules, customs, regarding funerals..... One man I know had many funerals in last years, and he said to me how, everywhere there are simply different customs...

I don't know the story behind it, probably some ethnologist and anthropologist from our Philosophical Faculty would know it...

Yes, I agree with you Graham. Today you can't believe "anyone and anything", ONLY to checked web sites, anti-virus software solutions, etc.

There are too many fake anti-virus software, so you must wide open your eyes when you surf, download or install anything...

This is very nice song, but sorry somehow I can't find better original sanskrit text and English translation, only some version of it, but I hope that would be also enough to get a glimpse of how song is to be felt verbally along the non-verbal level of sound:

Miten & Deva Premal - Lokah Samasta, Soul in Wonder

lokah samasta sukhino bhavantu
(may all beings be happy ? may all my thoughts, words and actions contribute in some way to the happiness of all beings).
mangalam bhagavan vishnum
mangalam garudadhwajah
mangalam pundareekaksham
mangalaya tano hari
beloved lord vishnu is auspicious.
auspicious is his vehicle garuda, the image on his flag.
auspicious are his lotus-like eyes-
so auspicious, his manifestation.
the love we share
(anubhava /add. lyrics miten)
as the love we share here spreads its wings
and flies across the earth and sings
its song to every soul that is alive
as the blessings of your grace my love
are felt by everyone and we all see the light within
across the earth we sing
shalom shalom
assalam aleikum
om shanti om
one step at a time
(miten / abhi / maneesh)
clouds drifting
moon clouds drifting
oh this longing for the sky
clouds drifting
moon clouds drifting
we?re disappearing, these clouds and i
i watch this silence gently grow
in my over-flowing heart
i watch this silence gently grow...
clouds lifting
moon clouds lifting
moon shadow on this holy ground
clouds lifting
moon clouds lifting
now i see
what it is i?ve found
i find a silence
gently growing
in my over flowing heart
i find a silence gently growing...
i found myself on the open sea
looking for a heart that was looking for me
i knew i?d find it eventually
taking one step at a time
crimson sky
gold and blue
there was no more ?I? and no more ?you?
so the next obvious thing to do
was take one step at a time.
we take it easy
we taking it slow
as above so below
i found out there?s no where to go
taking one step at a time.
om dhara
om dhara dharayei namaha
om dharayei namaha
om bhu devyei namaha
Om and salutations to Divine Mother who is the support of the earth.
Om and salutations to Divine Mother who is the Earth.
Honouring Mother Earth as the goddess she is.

Health & Welfare Issues / Ayur Vedic Medicine
« on: May 04, 2014, 04:50:20 AM »
Is there someone well versed in Ayur Vedic Medicine who can tell me something about it? At least shortly, okay I sincerely I am lazy to read, I have even book about it (paper - hard copied book), but I still don't read it, regarding healing treatmens, I read about Reiki now.

My questions:

1) For what aliements - medical problems it is good for?
2) What are the advantages, disadvantages (compared to other medical practices, like western scholar medicine) and finally what are the limits of this practice (for example it can cure this and this disease, but it can only relieve some pain in such and such medical problems, and for these problems that and that kind of medicine is better option)?

Yes, critical thinking and critical view all the time... :)

Okay, this post was made a year ago. I am a general nurse by my profession, and if you or any other have more medical problems, I am not a doctor and I can't diagnose or treat someone, but I can talk, and make some good advices concerning your or others medical problems. But finally you must go to the proper physician where you will undergo proper treatment. His words are final.

Diabetes mellitus although (mostly) chronic disease that means it can't be cured totally (according to the view of western scholar medicine), it can be controlled, make your life less painful or similar. But man in problem must also cooperate, at first wish good to his own self, and accept the help and advices of the health professionals. Without proper control it can run out of the control and it can make more complications, more unnecessary problems, etc.

This was very interesting article to read. I read it in Scientific American. :)

Regarding coma, not all comas are the same. There is a unique neurological scale to differentiate levels of coma, it is called Glasgow Coma Scale:

General topics / Re: Reality of Shiva, Vishnu and other forms
« on: May 04, 2014, 03:52:11 AM »
As someone who was initiated in Tibetan Budhism (karma kagyu) after Advaita Vedanta... I asked one Lama about this issue, because in the Tibetan Buddhism there are infinite Buddha forms, that good one quality perfected till the absolute maximum value. Like Buddha of Compassion Avalokitesvara, etc. In fact it can be in some way similar to the concept of polyteistic Hindu Religion... One Absolute God, but with many faces, many Gods, that took some qualities from the impersonal God, as their own and our own Source. RETURN TO THE SOURCE! :)

I asked him ARE these Buddha forms illusion, some kind of our trip or not? Do they really exist? He answered me how I don't think even to think about that, as they are aid in my meditation, and as long as it is like that, there is no point to think about reality of them.

In my own humble opinion it is similar to the angels, seraphims or similar creatures in Western Religions, but I am not sure about it. For human eye, they are all depicted like that we can see in some pictures, paintings, etc. In fact, there is no way to present them visually in a good way, because they are in some higher dimensions, our eyes can't see so good... But sometimes, some people can feel the energy of these creatures, even talk to them...

I hold the same or similar view for these Infinite Buddha Forms, Half-Gods (Demigods), etc.

In kabbalistic view, mythology of different people presents also the Gods, but these Gods are some kind of archetypes of human soul, of its potential, guides how we can develop some of its qualities...

And in Jung's psychology (yes that the same Jung who was afraid and coward to see Ramana but, okay his psychology in some points is good to western mind), mythology is final proof of deep collective shared conciousness of the humanity. Different people across the globe, without the real physical connections, developed similar archetypical images, similar mythologies across the globe, that is who he finally got to this proof.

Yes, JeweL, I am very happy to see them happily jumping in the grass, and how gently they look at you with their eyes shining with goodness and joy of being outside finally! :)

Forum Updates / Re: Transfer complete
« on: May 01, 2014, 01:22:04 PM »
Okay, I don't want to interrupt this process that is in fact "finished". BUT, I thought about something this morning. I know it can be expensive, but what do you think about possibility to buy some paid board software like Invision Power Board (IPB)? It is expensive first time, when you need to pay 175US$, BUT later only after 6 months you buy renewal of the license. I used to be admin of some of these IPB forums, and I know how it is good forum software in the practice.

Just want that you think about that. SMF and other free alternatives are good enough, but they don't provide much of the security, protection against the spammers, and many other issues. With this IPB forum, we  would get even small chat room integrated, it is already paid and free up to 5 people. For more we would need to pay more, or transfer to some other irc chat, or something else... but okay, there are not many users active online at the same time, this chat would be even good, who needs more with someone, or group chat there is irc, skype, or something else, that is similar. :)

What do you think about all this?

Also, I don't want that we hurry and to run after IPB, NOW... because I have just read that they are very soon to make a new version of it v4.x.x, maybe even during the middle of this year, we will see... at least I am looking forward to... :)

Thanks for your time to read and consider all this... OM Shanti... _/\_

This was very interesting topic! :) According to modern neuroscience and psychology, there are not many facts known about this issue, but what may be said till now... "reticular spider-like" formations of upper parts of brain stem (in latin medulla oblongata) are responsible for maintenance of conscioussness and some very vital physical body's functons like breathing and the work of heart (hard proofs for these points are hemorrhagic strokes (bleeds) in the place of pons (or "bridge" in english) that happen to be very fatal almost always). But in the whole field of medicine, there is no such an organ system like neurology (or neuroscience) that was so much researched, but with so little results, still there are not many facts known. In the medical field, neurology is one of the hardest specialization, not like for example dermatology.

Also, one buddhist point is to my own humble opinion truth indeed. A dead matter can't simply make "live matter", or how we call it living beings, because it is illogical even, or absurd. Vice-versa it can happen, when life force abandons the body at the end of life. Simply even in that just outside looking dead matter, there must be already some, although to the eye invisible, potential ("seed") for all this man finally has at the end of the evolution process... Spirit is that one who guides the evolution in fact...

Have a nice day, it is 1st May today HOLIDAY! :) Please don't do anything today, BE LAZY AS YOU WASN'T IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE! :) Today is the Day celebrating the (Non)Work so we should forgive and allow ourselves to be so honest in our laziness! :)

P. S. Something about this reticular spider-like formation of the upper part of the brain stem: :)

The best book on Zen Buddhism ever is this:

Roshi Philip Kapleau "The Three Pillars of Zen"

And its sequel:

Roshi Philip Kapleau "Zen: Dawn in the West"
