शत्रौ मित्रे पुत्रे बन्धौ
मा कुरु यत्नं विग्रहसन्धौ
सर्वस्मिन्नपि पश्यात्मानम्
सर्वत्रोत्सृज भेदाज्ञानम् ॥

Do not make efforts in separating from or joining
with a foe or friend or son or relative.
See Thine own Self everywhere.
Completely get rid of
the ignorant conception of differentiation everywhere!

(Do not waste your time in setting right the family narratives.
It is a useless effort and wastes your precious time too.
Everyone gets provoked by the chemicals acting in their brain and body.

There is no meaning in their anger, joy, love or hatred. They just react to outer circumstances and have no purpose in life. Their very existence is to feel anxious and suffer.

If you have the goal of realizing your Self, then stop worrying about the life narratives. Watch every event like a witness. Do not feel anxious about everything. See everything as a projection of your own Self. See it as a dream concocted by your mind. - Tejasvini)

       Hey listen you disciple!

Whether a donkey, or a lowly pig, or a scorpion is seen,
one should look at the feet and fold the hands in salutation,
lift them above the head;
say ?Shankara Shankara? and humbly bow down.
One should salute the garbage and the dirt also.
Supremacy is the collection of all the objects that are there.

      Instructions

The neighboring house was broke and the walls had fallen down.
It was a ruin of a place.
The great Yogi stared at me through both his eyes with compassion,
pointed out a broken ruin of a wall; and then the sun;
then at the same moment showed the reflection (of the Sun) inside the well;
and asked ?Do you understand??

I replied ?Yes I understand!?
He felt very happy and went away.
I too had a glimpse of a root in the tree of Vedanta!

The instruction which the Guru gave by pointing out those objects,
I will explain the same in beautiful Tamil to all the people of the world.
He said-
?Bind the breath (Vaasi) through Kumbhaka and live like the mud, the wall.
You will see Shiva within you like the sun?s reflection in the well.
There is no use in talking.
Knowledge is the great bliss you attain through experience.?

If I was having a text (scripture) I will ask him to open a page.
He will show his instruction there.
He will point out at the sky and taught me that
the love for that beautiful lady with her dark light eyes (Mother) alone
is the path to be followed in the world.
The noble one in this manner taught me many things.
For that purpose whatever examples he showed me were endless.

Another day, the knowledge Guru Chidambareshan
the Ganesha of the earth, KullaSaami,
the compassionate Sage whose lotus feet were saluted humbly by the learned
came in front of me carrying on his back a tied up bundle of old clothes.
I laughed slightly and questioned him-
?Master! What is this thing you are doing?
Is this not the action of mad men?
Why do you carry this dirty bundle, tell me.?

The noble saint smiled and said-
?I carry it only outside.
You are carrying another dirty bundle inside your mind,?

He said this, and went away fast.
I understood the meaning of the words uttered by the king of saints.
By breeding the old lies inside the mind
the men of the world suffer much and die wastefully.
One should bring freedom to the mind.

What is gone will not come back, you fools!
Do not always think of what has past;
and be miserable by falling into the deadly chasm of worries.
?Today we are born anew?
ascertaining yourself with the repetition of this idea,
eat and sport and live happily.
Alas! Without doing that,
do not keep on crying,
thinking again and again, repeatedly what is gone past.

Hey you men without wisdom!
Again and again, again and again,
new wind fills inside us and
again and again new life appears afresh,
as the Aatman.

Worrying about the actions of the past binding you,
you have become deluded in the intellect, and are perishing.

Surrendering yourself to
ShaktiDevi who has eyes resembling that of the deer,
keep living lost in her thought.

The results of the past actions will not touch me.
I am ShreeDharan (Naaraayana).
I am ShivaKumaaran (Shiva?s son).

Good! I have born afresh now.
I am new. I am the Supreme. I do not have any suffering.
Those who live on this earth with this knowledge like the heavenly brings above
are known as Siddhas.

Jumping across at one stretch
on the mountain of the Supreme righteousness,
they do not have any divided identity.
They do not ever perish.
They do not shatter down.

They have endless identities now.
Though engaged in countless actions on this earth,
they are not bound by the action.
They have mastered the trick owned by
ParamaShiva, the Master of Vedas, who is intoxicated with bliss,
and who has placed Goddess Uma on his left side.
These knowers have destroyed the dense darkness
namely the results of the past actions,
and wander on the earth like fire.
Hey you intelligent disciple!
You get rid of the limited identity
(ego connected with the physical body)
and practice the contemplation of endless state of Brahman.
You will become immortal.

Listen hey you!
All the truths given above were explained by
KullaSaami of taintless intelligence,
daily through many examples and gestures and verbal instructions.
Just like feeling delighted by looking at the shoulders (of Mother Supreme),
I delighted at the sight of the feet of my Guru, my support.
Victory to Maangottaichhaami
who has his lotus feet worshipped
by kings who delight in the sight of the sword.

Know that Buddha died of some pain (illness).
The Brahmin Sage Shankaraachaarya also died.
Later Raamaanuja also departed.

Jesus died nailed to the cross.
Kannan (Krishna) died hit by a sharp arrow.
Rama, who is praised by all, also gave up his body by entering the river.

But know this fact that I alone will remain
without dying on this wide earth.
This is the truth par excellence; I will never lie!
I will never lie even if I die!
For the descendents of Manu (embodied beings)
there is no withering away, no death!
Listen! Listen!

       Clarity

After mixing and filling all as oneself,
can there be poverty, hey mind?
After the decision has been made to kill the wicked worm (ego),
can the intellect be ever in a confused state?

After realizing that all that is there is just one single Self,
can you still feel distressed, hey mind?
Can there be any sadness left ever,
after getting absorbed into the cool bliss flowing like a flood?

After realizing
the nature of ?Chit? (Brahman/Self)
and its great power of manifestation, - hey mind,
however many problems beset you all around,
can there be even an awareness of it?

?Perform actions established in the state of the Self?
thus spoke the Lord (Krishna) ? hey mind!
Will those people who do not identify with the unreal;
and who stand in the identity of their true Self,
be ever afraid of the earth?

Can there be fear for those who dive inside
the ocean of the luster of the Self and sport, hey mind?
Seeing the dam of honey burst open,
let us wade through it and get excessively intoxicated!

       Effulgence bright beyond the reach
Of mind or speech
The Lord supreme who has decreed
Out of His grace
That in illimitable space
A million million words should roll
Unceasingly in all directions
He is Allah, Allah, Allah

All, all who come and worship Him,
He saves, destroying fear of Death,
Though they may be unlearned, false
Of speech and lacking penance, wicked,
Breaking every rule of conduct
Taught by the good, all, all He saves
From fear of Death, Allah, Allah, Allah

Lord Vithal, or Panduranga Vittala, is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and is worshipped in the world famous Pandarpur Rukmini Vithal Temple at Pandarpur in Maharashtra. There is an interesting story that explains about the incarnation of Lord Vithal at Pandarpur.

Once a devotee named Pundalik was traveling to Kashi and reached the Ashram of Saint Kukkut. He asked the sage the way to Kashi. Kukkut Rishi said that he did not know the way to Kashi and he had never been there.

Pundalik made fun of Kukkut Rishi for not knowing the way to Kashi and said that a holy man like him should have already visited Kashi. Kukkut Rishi kept quiet and did not bother to answer Pundalik.
During the course of the night Pundalik heard the voice of women in the ashram.

He came to out to look what was happening and saw that three women were sprinkling water on the Ashram and cleaning it.

On enquiry, Pundalik found out that the three women were Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswathi and they had come to clean the Ashram of Kukkut Rishi. Pundalik wondered how a saint like Kukkut who had not visited Kashi was such holy and powerful that the three holy rivers came down to purify his ashram.

The three women told Pundalik that piety, spirituality and devotion does not depend on visiting holy places or doing costly rituals but in performing one?s karma.

The three women told him that Sage Kukkut had served and nursed his parents most faithfully and devoted all his life to that one aim. He had thus accumulated Punya enough to earn Moksha and bring us down to earth to serve him.

Pundalik had left is old parents at home and was visiting Kashi to gain moksha and blessing. He did not bother to entertain the request of his parents to take them also to Kashi.

Pundalik now understood his mistake and rushed back home and took his parents to Kashi and on return started looking after them. From then onwards the care of his old mother and father came before everything else.

Lord Krishna was moved by the sincere devotion of Pundalik towards his parents. He decided to visit Pundalik?s home.

When Lord Krishna visited Pundalik?s home he was serving food to his old parents.

Pundalik saw the Lord at his door but his devotion to his parents was so intense that he wanted to finish his duties first and then attend to his guest. Pundalik had reached such a stage that it didn?t matter to him whether the guest was a mere mortal or God. All that mattered was service to his parents.

Pundalik gave Lord Krishna a brick to stand on and asked Him to wait until his duty was completed. Lord Krishna was moved by the devotion of Pundalik to his parents and waited for him patiently.

Later when Pundalik came out he asked the Lord forgiveness for making Him wait. Lord Krishna blessed him and asked him to ask a boon.

Pundalik said what more can I ask when the Lord himself waits for me.

When Lord Krishna insisted that he ask a boon, Pundalik asked that the Lord should remain on earth and bless and take care of His devotees.

Lord Krishna agreed to stay there and is known as Vithoba or the Lord who stands on a brick. This form of the Lord Vithoba is Swayambhu which means that His idol has not been carved or etched but it came into existence on its own.

am just instantly reminded of this wonderful story -

Stories told by Sri Bhagavan:

D: Is it possible to speak to Iswara as Sri Ramakrishna did?
M: When we can speak to each other why should we not speak to Iswara in the same way?
D: Then why does it not happen with us?
M: It requires purity and strength of mind and practicein meditation.
D: Does God become evident if the above conditions exist?
M: Such manifestation is as real as your own reality. In other words, when you identify yourself with the body as in jagrat you see gross objects; when in subtle body or in mental plane as in swapna, you see objects equally subtle; in the absence of identification as in sushupti  you see nothing. The objects seen bear a relation to the state of the seer. The same applies to visions of God. By long practice the figure of God, as meditated upon, appears in dream and may later appear in jagrat also.
D: Is that the state of God-realisation?
M: Listen to what happened once years ago.

Vithoba found Namdev had not yet realised the Supreme Truth and wanted to teach him. When Jnaneswar and Namdev returned from their  pilgrimage, Gora Kumbhar gave a feast to all the saints in his place and among them were Jnaneswar and Namdev. At the feast Jnaneswar,  in collusion with Gora, told Gora publicly, You are a potter, daily engaged in making pots and testing them to see which are properly baked and which are not. These pots before you (i.e., the saints) are the pots of Brahma. See which of these are sound and which not.? Thereupon Gora said, Yes, Swami, I shall do so, and took up the stick with which he used to tap his pots to test their soundness. Holding it aloft in his hand he went to each of his guests and tapped each on the head as he usually did to his pots. Each guest humbly submitted to such tapping. But when Gora approached Namdev, the latter indignantly called out, You potter, what do you mean by coming to tap me  with that stick? Gora thereupon told Jnaneswar, Swami, all the other pots have been properly baked. This one (i.e. Namdev) alone is not yet properly baked. All the assembled guests burst into laughter.

Namdev felt greatly humiliated and ran up to Vitthala (the deity he worshipped) with whom he was on the most intimate terms, playing with him, eating with him, sleeping with him and so on. Namdev complained of this humiliation which had happened to him, the closest friend and companion of Vitthala. Vitthala (who of course knew all this) pretended to sympathise with him, asked for all the details of the happenings at Gora's house and after hearing everything said, Why should you not have kept quiet and submitted to the tapping, as all  the others did? That is why all this trouble has come. Thereupon Namdev cried all the more and said, You also want to join the others and humiliate me. Why should I have submitted like the others? Am I not your closest friend, your child? Vitthala said,  You have not yet  properly understood the truth, and you wont understand if I tell you. But go to the saint who is in a ruined temple in such and such a forest. He will be able to give you enlightenment.

Namdev accordingly went there and found an old, unassuming man sleeping in a corner of the temple with his feet on a Sivalingam. Namdev could hardly believe this was the man from whom he ? the companion of Vitthala ? was to gain enlightenment. However, as there was none else there, Namdev went near the man and clapped his hands. The old man woke up with a start and seeing Namdev,  said, Oh ? you are Namdev whom Vitthala has sent here. Come! Namdev was dumbfounded and began to think, This must be a great man. Still he thought it was revolting that any man however great, should be resting his feet on a lingam. He asked the old man, You seem to be a great personage. But is it proper for you to have your feet on a lingam?? The old man replied, Oh, are my feet on a lingam? Where is it? Please remove my feet elsewhere.? Namdev removed the feet and put them in various places. Wherever they were put, there was a Sivalingam. Finally, he took them on his lap and he himself became a Sivalingam! Then he realised the truth and the old gentleman said, Now you can go back.

Bhagavan added, It is to be noted that only when he surrendered himself, and touched the feet of his guru, enlightenment came. After this final enlightenment Namdev returned to his house and for some days did not go to Vitthala at the temple, though it had been his habit not only to visit Vitthala every day, but to spend most of his time with Vitthala at the temple. So, after a few days, Vitthala went to Namdevs house and like a guileless soul, enquired how it was that Namdev had forgotten him and never visited him. Namdev replied, No more of your fooling me. I know now. Where is the place where you are not! To be with you, should I go to the temple? Do I exist apart from you? Then Vitthala said, So you now understand the truth. That is why you had to be sent for this final lesson.

Everyone is an Avatar of God. "Behold ye, the Kingdom of God is within."
Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha, Krishna, all are in you. One who knows the
Truth sees everyone else as a manifestation of God. Those who have
eyes can alone see; and to the pure, everything is pure.

581

The form and appearance of the God-manifestation are determined by the mentality of the devotees. But the finality is not that for it has the sense of duality. It is like a dream vision. After God is perceived, Vichara commences. That ends in the realisation of the self. Vichara is the final method.

582

The objects or feelings or thoughts, i.e., all experiences, in meditation, are all only mental conceptions.

When Sunderesa Iyer,  local teacher described yogic experiences, including visions of light, ringing of bells etc. which he was having Maharshi replied they come, and they would pass away. Be only the Witness. I myself had thousands of such experiences, but I had no one to go to consult about them.

"Name of the Hari is only a means. To fix the position of non-duality is an art and to experience this is very rare".

(Jnaneshwar)

There is no kind of sorrow for one who leaves off
(seeing through his physical senses) and begins
to see everything as his own Self.

The sights and sounds which may appear during meditation should be regarded as distractions and temptations. None of them should be allowed to beguile the aspirant.
