Dear I,

The 'I' - 'us', 'we' could go on elaborating about the 'Natural State' of what avail will it be to us eventually? just a knowledge. It is not going to be of any use.

Bhagavan Ramana, answerd to only few of the questions which have been recorded and made into books. It is actually going to be of no real use eventually knowing/understanding these 'Natural state', 'Atmic state' - It will only prove to be a hinderence to our Sadhana for we will eventually begin to compare our experiences to what we have read and get stuck there.

"natural state" if that is what we want to call it, is not something that can be 'comprehend' and 'become'

Our fullest effort should only be on our Sadhana alone. Stickicg to our Sadhana what ever it may be - Japa, Parayana, Bhajan, etc... just carry on with it without giving any room for our thoughts to take over our sadhana to investigate into it. When ever the thought comes out like this - like it may ask us what is this 'natural state'? Let me try and understand it..... etc.. it is taking you outwards. Just be conscious of yourself and be a watchman to yourself. When ever the mind goes outwards bring it back into your Sadhana - what ever it is.

The Mind can come up with brilliant compilation, ideas, imaginations, logically perfect about interpreting various Vedantic vichara. It is all nothing - absolutely nothing. It is Maya trying to hypnotise us and bring us away from our Self.

It is not necessary to know what 'Natural State'

Dear I,

Very simply put! Cannot be said in a better way! Realising thus, one can only surrender and give up. What else can we do, all else is vain. Even the minute bit of ego gives up if one realises this!.... Every attempt of ours in realising the Self is limited. Sharanagati is inevitable!

The silence that one comes into after this realisation that the only realisation that 'I' can get is the realisation of the limitedness of itself - 'I' and simply remain! What else can we - 'I' do? This is the silence of wisdom!


We are all not able to comprehend "the thoughtless state of mind",
because we have still not attained it.  We are like a newly married
bride.  What is sexual union, will be comprehended by her, only when
she comes out of the nuptial room in the next morning.  Till such time, it is all theory and book learning.

We are also like a pupa inside the cocoon, not knowing what is meant to be a larva and a grown up insect?   Because, we have still not broken the wall of the cocoon, "the wall of thoughtful state".

Sri Ramakrishna says that a mother gives a chit telling that the son
should buy fish and vegetables.  Once the purchase is made, where
is the need for the chit?  We are still keeping the chit.  We are yet
to buy the fish and vegetables!

Dear I,

Pardon me for 'I' keep, responding your posts often with 'my' views.

The 'I' which is unable to accept/reject Sadhu Om/anything else, is simply the 'Ego' 'Mind' the lesser 'Self'.

Everything always is only describing and pointing only towards the Self alone. The rights and wrongs. Absolutely everything.

Who is the 'I' that says thus? that(Halaahala) has to merge into the Self (Siva)

Why does Bhagavan Ramana use "I-I"?

Why not "I".

What ever you may read and try to understand the essense of 'I-I' it will never be complete. It is being Self. It is not knowing vastu.

Thou Art That. Its a futile exercise. discard it, and its wise to continue Self Enquiry. I-I respresents Birthlessness and deathlessness - Eternal and Continues.

This realisation can come only if from inside
one's own heart spring purity of resolve and
earnestness of spirit. It does not come by
much study or by learned discussions. It
comes to one whose Self yearns for realisation,
and whose mind has turned away from evil and
has learnt to subdue itself and is at peace with
the world.

What avails all this agitating over the unreal?

दिङ्मण्डलं भ्रमसि मानस चापलेन ।
भ्रान्त्यापि जातु विमलं कथमात्मनीनं

They only appear mentally retarded only to us, because we are used to living according to the rules of conduct formed by the society. We expect people to 'be' in a way. But, they (mentally retarded) are not bothered about what the world thinks about them!

I have read somewhere Sri Ramana say that, if they (mentally retarded) really will, then they can act normally, it is only out of their own choice, they are like that. Let me see if I can get hold of this piece of information from my books. I have heard in some occasions on how, mentally retarded persons have become normal on the effect of listening to Vedic Mantras, pure love, compassion and care (the movie, Munnabai MBBS is a perfect example to this)

We should focus on our enquiry, who am I, who is the one who is feeling disturbed about the mentally retarded persons. Nobody is different. They are just like any other people out there. Because, we should keep in mind that what ever we do, we are not the real doer.

This is one of the reason why UGK repeatedly kept saying that Jesus, Buddha and others have only created a nuisance by establishing a philosophy and thereby creating confusion.

It is a proven fact that more wars have been fought and more killings and terror have happened in the name of religions, love and philosophy over supremacy issues!

As a matter of fact, to my humble understanding,

Adi Shankara only propounded Advaita as a matter of "Samatva" - one can reach God any way, because, Budhism was being misused and it turned out to be a religion contrary to the desire of Budha. The successors of Budha were only oriented in bringing down the existing beliefs, the rituals and they ridiculed them. Hence Adi Shankara only infused the necessary by introducing "Advaita - Samatva" He was never against Budha and his beliefs, he was only against the currupt practices of the followers of Budha.

We have heard in Nochurs pravachanams itself, about these, how Budha himself went into forest in his last years upset with the attitudes of his followers.

Infact, Adi Shankara's Paramaguru, Gaudapada, has freely quoted in his Karika references from Buddhist works of Nagarjuna and others.

Adi Shankara only infused advaita for a balance which was very much needed at that time of Chaos, Nobody were clear what to do, this or that, to leave rituals and leave family and kids to become a buddhist monk to attain Nirvana, ???? What does one do?

It is in this time of crises that Shankara revived Sanathana Dharma, He did not go and convert people. He just said them the truth.

Where as in the times of Ramanuja, there was a BIG clash between Saivaites and Vaishanvaites. It was the need of the hour for Ramanuja to propound Vishshtadvaita because, people began to put Advaita into Action which is absurd.

Saivaites dominated over vaishnavites and reprimanded Vishnu. Hence the need of the hour was carried out by Ramanuja.

There is no difference between Buddha, Shankara and Ramanuja.

I am of the opinion that we should only share amongst ourselves and others, only Good informnation and avoid any unnecessary controversial piece of information, be it spiritual or otherwise unless we are so sure of seeing the real essence of Goodness in them worth sharing!

Kartadu Kai Alvu, Kallaaladu Ulagalavu - What we know is very little, what we don't is as much as the universe.

Dear I,

I apologise, my posts way have been a little harsh. I just found it disturbing.

I am sure, saint Sri Jnansambandhar, would not have justified the killings by Pandya Kings. if at all they are true. I am sure, Sri Sambandhar would have reprimanded these acts of the King.

The poetry in these works always have a peculiar way in their spirit, they are deliberately recorded in such a manner that the reader could cleanse himself first and then realise the truth of the verse. I am sure, this verse would have clear inner essence in it.

Kannaal Kaanbadum poi, Kaadal Ketpadum poi, theera visaaripade aridu - what we see and hear are false, to investigate (Self Enquiry) is wise
