Dear Ramana,

yes, thats a valid point. yes in a way Advaita Siddhanta by itself inherently takes one away without any differences between god and us. Without any duality.

Dual schools are fed with dualities and causes a strict sense of separation between faiths. While Advaitins are able to accept all Gods, even multi religious, the dual schools are narrowed down to their own.

Dear Prashant, that person if given a chance is capable of dividing the world to opposites Dr. Zakir Naik He is just a clever and dangerous intellect!

In continuance to my post, I believe, even if a fraud sage uttered the Veda (knowledge) the words don't become impure or fraud because of the saints misconduct :)

Even though the Swami Nithyananda was an embarrassment, his words, some of his quotes are the vedas only! those words have not become impure along with the Swamy! (just quoted for conveying the essence) His words have not become false because of his misconduct, because, they are truth!

Which is why, everything becomes a "Guru Tatva" upon proper discernment, because, a sadhaka is not bothered about the conduct of his Guru, his is more attentive to his quest of truth. He has realised the futility and inertness of the body. Even the Sage's body is not the Sage's (Atleast from such a Sadhaka's point of view) and such a Sadhaka can still realise the truth, being a disciple to even a fraud Sage who is deluding himself too!

NOTE: this does not applies to the masses, this is for sadhaka who has made proper deep enquiry and discernments.

What we indians call Dosa, in the west, it is called pan cakes.

This is the way, I view it, Advaita, Dvaita, etc...

Fundamentally it is made from batter (Atma) but the end product is only after it is cooked (realisation)

Salutations to Bhagavan

doesn't matter ramana, what matters are the words, the words of truth are first truth, primarily its all atmic principle and only then comes all the others which are secondary. Everybody agree the existence of "Soul" first lets realise that.

Why Bhagavan Ramana was only unique Sage in the entire evolution span of the universe since when it was created, is because, no other Sage revealed what Bhagavan said. He said that everybody agrees about the Atma, first lets realise ourselves as Atma and then we can talk about whether it is Advaita, Dvaita or Visishtadvaita or Father or Malik... what ever theories may exist.

Bhagavan never said a theory. at most he said his anubhooti matched with those of Shankara. I personally felt, the only reason why Shankara came up with the theory of 'adviata' was only to clear the confusions that existed at that time due to the the residue of misinterpretations of some of Buddha's disciples that created chaos in the society! If Everybody becomes a monk, what would happen to the world? Before Buddha there never existed any theory as such.

This one revelation by Bhagavan Ramanar is the father of all revelations. He broke any difference that could exist.

a Ramana devotee would not mind what the true theory is, he is more concerned about the TRUTH itself. A Ramana devotee sees the Atmic principle in every Saints words and he ignores any such theories if mentioned as he is well aware, that, in "that" state of union, there is no mind there, so who is there to affirm any theories there?

In larger scheme, at least personally, it doesn't matter :) infact, whatever literature i read, I see the same atmic principle in all sacred texts. I have read a little of Bible, Buddhists works, Qur-an, old testament, Ramanuja Visishtadvaita, Madhava Dvaita, and Nimbarka Advaitadvaia - They all conveyed the same Atmic Principle, but unfortunately culminated to some theories which was not necessary.

Which is, to atleast Bhagavan's devotees who are well read, consider Bhagavan as the ultimate, because he has made sure that we do not get caught in the theories and forget the fundamental truth the root, Atmic-abidance!

This is the greatest revelation!

There are no theories, only Self. It is neither Sunyata, Advaita, Dvaita, Visishtadvaita, Father, Jehovah, etc.... The Self Atma is ABSOLUTELY ATTRIBUTELESS. IT ALONE IS.

Here, there is no need for any attributes at all... attributes are the greatest "misleadings" to a sadhaka.

I am not sure, if this way be a perfect answer to your query, but this is how i view it :)

"The ideals of Christ are the ideals of the scriptures of India. The precepts of Jesus are analogous to the highest Vedic teachings, which were in existence long before the advent of Jesus. This does not take away from the greatness of Christ; it shows the eternal nature of truth, and that Jesus incarnated on earth to give to the world a new expression of Sanatan Dharma"

« on: October 28, 2011, 11:01:09 AM »
D: How to get rid of useless thoughts?
M: Like wrong telephonic calls, disconnect useless thoughts; don’t entertain them. Make use of useful
ones and then be free of thoughts as far as possible. You get engrossed in memories, be attentive, say
‘go, I don’t want you’. With practice it is possible to be free of thoughts; your own thoughts become an
obstacle in your spiritual progress.

D: That is why we come here; it is easier to think of him then phones.
M: Whatever I say, I have practiced, I too used to get thoughts but I remembered what my Guru said,
‘you are, so Just be’. I am least worried about others, I am concerned with myself. Treat thoughts like
one would treat a person, ask them to go. When relaxed, the thoughts come and complain, who
complains about others? They are your own thoughts, just kick them out!

D: How easy!
M: Yes, but with practice. You become your own enemy because of your thoughts.

General topics / Seeing the Self and not the world
« on: October 28, 2011, 10:39:12 AM »
We take ourselves to be a man or woman. It is a blunder that we commit because of our identification
with our body. Brahman is neither a man nor woman. Having received this knowledge, by your own
experience you shall become all expansive, pervasive. This body or man-woman experience is a
sickness. Don’t talk to people about others but get hold of yourself. Be established in the Knowledge,
don’t talk about it, have a firm conviction. When you understand, get established then you don’t need
words, words are superfluous.
Only a rare one will say all this, Krishna said, ‘I saw myself, not the
world, whatever I see, is myself.’ Once established in this knowledge, you can die any moment you
wish. Prophet Mohammed and Christ were like this; my nature too is like that. They behaved like that,
their nature is my nature. Make use of this knowledge, assimilate it and you will lose this habit to
criticize others, Krishna said, when you are that, who will criticize whom?

This confirms without any doubt that we should stick to our basics. Stick to ones own traditional roots. Keep doing the worships that has been traditionally done in ones family and do not give up any of those samskaras. That itself takes us nearer to our Sat Guru.

Practice to remaining STILL every day for sometime throughout the day for some time, say, for every hour, is an excellent way.

Remaining Still:
  • Seated in Sukhasana (Comfortable position)
  • Remain unmoved (no matter what)
  • Deliberate effort to not allow thinking
  • Remain in complete consciousness, awareness, like a watchman, not allowing the thinking
  • Being with yourself
  • Only cognizance of breath remains. develop further to even go beyond this cognizance of breath and remain absorbed in Self
  • Whenever all of the above fails, and when any vrittis that comes about, that are uncontrollable, let it do its job, don't force yourself to stop it, if you are unable to, it shall end, just remain a witness and don't get identified in it and forget yourself. It will subsides all by itself if we don't put fuel to it, and then be absorbed in yourself, do Self Enquiry and go back to attaining Stillness just as above

There is a string-puzzle
Which appears to ensnare a stick;
But, when the string is pulled,
The onlooker is amazed
To find that the stick is outside the puzzle.
The effort to determine the nature of the Self
Ends in the very same way.

निराशा च निरिहा च नित्यमेकान्तशीलता ॥३६८॥

The first gatewat of Yoga consists of:

1 control of speech

2 non-acceptance of possessions

3 non-entertainmnet of expectations

4 freedom from difference. seeing all as the same, good an bad
Shakespeare: there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

5 living always in a retired mood with only end or aim of worshiping of one Being

that makes some sense, especially for a newbie... i wondered how would a newbie feel if he is given directly the Ulladu Naarpadu, the first verse which consist of only the word Ullam. :D

Some background of Bhagavan is very much necessary before one can taste the ambrosia of Bhagavan

Some how we have to constantly be in tune with the Divinity. The best is constant enquiry, if not then chanting shlokams, parayanams, reading books on Bhagavan or Upanishads, listening to Pravachanams. we all have mobile phones, we can add some pravachanams or shlokas and keep listening to it while doing of work. Developing a habit to look at Bhagavan picture every hour, or at every hour, just looking within, do enquiry for a minute, keep reminding about who we really are, the real Self. Remember some of the stories of direct devotees and their encounters with Bhagavan. Remember at times, the temporariness of everything around, nothing is going to last but the Self.... so on...

Somehow, keep always in touch with reality...
