Dear Subramanian Sir

I loved your second sentence very much -

Those who do not remember the history, are condemned to repeat it.

Salutations to Bhagavan

absolutely, Ramana, very wise words! Infact, history should culminate to the dawn of this wisdom! The purpose of knowing History is awaken the dormant wisdom within.

During the British Raj - (Unknown History details, which our education system fails to present to us)

Interesting documentary. Just to know our past. It is very important to know our past, our ancestors, how they suffered, how the politics influenced us.

Salutations to Bhagavan

Yes, I know, for Jnani there is no karma but the body must experience his karma. Does Jnani know it?

Dear Ramana,

i may perhaps have over looked your question.

you asked a very pertinent question "Does the Jnani know it?"

Who can confirm this? we can get answer to this from books, or fellow devotee or from the Jnani Himself. In the end, how do you know if the source of the confirmation is true? is it not yourself in the end, that you should look for confirmation? Who else can confirm other than yourself, when everything else passes? ;)

Dear Devotees,

I recently received this message from somebody. This was the message to Muruganar from Bhagavan. Extremely profound. Very happy to share it with you all:

Place your burden
at the feet of the Lord of the universe
who accomplishes everything.

Remain all the time steadfast
in the heart,
in the Transcendental Absolute.

God knows the past, present and future.

He will determine the future for you and accomplish the work.

What is to be done will be done at the proper time. Don’t worry.

Abide in the heart and surrender your acts to the Divine.

Dear jyoti,

Deham - Body
Naham - Not I
Koham - Who am I
Soham - 'That' am I

In effect, it means - I am not this body, then who am I? I am Soham (Atma)

Ashrams / Re: How safe is Inner Path for Giri Pradakshina?
« on: November 11, 2011, 03:42:48 PM »
Just behind the Ashramam, beyond the Old hall, you will find a small gate that leads to the hill, on walking up some distane, you will see the path deviating, one to the right which leads to Skandashramam and Virupaksha cave and on to the left which is the way of inner Girivalam. throughout the path, you will find the stones colored in yellow.

I also heard that recently, they have clearly painted the path in yellow and people have taken much pains in developing the inner path.

You can always talk to the ashrammites and get more details

Salutations to Bhagavan

this applies not only to the British people, to us who are very much in India and very much close to these slums. many of the beggars are much happier than the population and us - the so called educated lot!

while i agree with the views, we should look beyond the paradigm of "Advaita" as the Self is beyond all, even "Advaita"

To a True Bhakta, He sees the Self as He is. To a Dvaita, as his knowledge is, to the Visishtadvaitin, as his knowledge is, Advaitin, as his knowledge is.

What concerns to the Self? if it is any of the above? In the end, these are just matters of speculations.

Self is attributeless!

Salutations to Bhagavan

Dear ramana,

For a jnani, the body is not different from himself. There is no - "a jnani" and "his body" there is, just "Jnanam" hence this speculation does not arise at all.

Jnani's body is not different. There is no "known" and a "knower"

What is prarabhdha? The so called prarabhda of a "jnani" appears only to the onlookers, to we devotees only, not to Himself!

Dear Vengatesh,

I have done the girivalam through the inner path (yellow path) alone and i found it very safe and it was a great experience. I feel, the only word of caution is, if any women are accompanying you, in such case, many locals advise to go as groups.

I am not an experienced in this matter. But its ok to go alone based on my own experience.

An enlightening insight on how a Christian Missionary was Deconverted by Tribe (Must Watch). A great revelation on  Lord Tennyson great quote -

"The old order changeth, yielding place to new, and God fulfils himself in many ways lest one good custom should corrupt the world."

The many different religions are appropriate to the maturity of each individual, and all of them are acceptable to reality.

Before discernment, a person looks at the reflection of the cool moon in still pond, and out of the joy of the moon, he jumps into the water and goes looking for it, but never finds it, but then a Sage comes are tells him the truth, he no longer admires the reflection but verily the moon itself! Then he no longer had to jump into the water to seek the joy of the moon.

Kabir says 'Kasturi kundal base, mrig dhoondhe van mahi' - the kasturi is a (fragrance) is in naval of a particular specie of deer, but the deer having its fragrance runs in search of that in whole of forest), to whom it concerns?

In the same way, we imagine that the food, women, wine brings us pleasure, whereas, the joy derived through these are really of the Self. When a person truly discerns this, he no longer requires them for pleasure :)

Just so, the one pure Consciousness becomes
The enjoyer and the object of enjoyment,
The seer and the object of vision,
Without disturbing Its unity

Sweeter even than the bliss of liberation
Is the enjoyment of sense objects
To one who has attained wisdom.
In the house of bhakti (devotional love),
That lover and his God
Experience their sweet union.

The teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi / Re: Complete surrender
« on: November 04, 2011, 07:17:36 PM »
Dear ramana,

at all times, all enjoyments and experiences are only of the Self. It is only a mistake on our part to think that those experiences, enjoyments, pleasures are derived from that source, which is really not true! It is verily the experience of the Self. When you taste the food, the enjoyment truly is of the Self not the food, when you smell the flower, it is truly the joy of Self, and so on...

Why do you not want to enjoy the experience of self? Self Surrender is not some inert stone 'state'

Nothing changes, everything remains as is. Why imagine Surrender as something? which is really non existent.

A "Self Surrendered State" is really a myth. That state is not different from what you current are! We just need to shut the power to the mind. The Senses operate as it is, just don't become the Sense, don't take the senses as your identity!

Which is why, there is a tricky notion of surrendering and i made some humble musings here (reply No. 24)

Infact After Surrender, the joy of having food is greater, the joy of the smell of a flower is greater, and so on...

We kiss a baby, not because it gives joy to the baby, but because, it gives JOY TO US. It is the experience of Self.
